Shops: Portobello Road, London W11 Homegirl London March 15, 2013 Shops Homes and interiors shopping guide to Portobello Road, London W11. A great place to visit on a Saturday, especially if you have guests in town because it’s a big tourist destination. Saturday is the best day for Portobello Market with hundreds of market stalls lining Portobello Road. If you’re after antiques, vintage home accessories and ornate decorative objects, this is the place to shop. You can reach Portobello Road from various stations; this tour starts from Ladbroke Grove underground (which is on the Hammersmith and City line) and takes you up to Notting Hill Gate tube station (which is on the Central, Circle and District lines). If you want to read up more about the area check out the links at the bottom of the article. In terms of the market stalls you’ll find antique silver, glassware, artwork, vintage cameras and suitcases. There are quite a few antiques arcades which are open on Saturdays so do wander in and explore. I’m not going to write about all the market stalls because there are just too many. Instead I’ll be concentrating on the shops so if you can’t make it on a Saturday you’ll still have plenty of stores to browse. In terms of places to eat, well there’s street food and restaurants galore along the route – many are quite busy on Saturdays though so it may take a little while to get served. Silverware on Market Stalls Vintage Cameras on Market Stalls Come out of Ladbroke Grove station, turn left, cross the road under the bridge and you’ll see the entrance to Portobello Market displayed with a banner Portobello Market Entrance Walk through the stalls, many of which are clothing to begin with, until you get to Portobello Road.
