When I popped along to see the Lee Broom Crystal Bulb Shop over Design Week I noticed he had some rather lovely old fashioned scales sitting proudly on his countertop used to display his amazing bulbs. Since then I’ve noticed some more scales used for display – in the side window of Habitat at Tottenham Court Road and in the super cool shoe shop Author in Camden. A couple of eateries also have vintage varieties on show like The Front Room in Tollington Park and Poppies the great fish and chip bar in East London. There’s definitely a trend for the beautiful classic shape of vintage scales which are being re-made with all mod cons. I found a few fabulous buys from Mydeco, DotComGiftShop and Homage.
