The shop is an urban jungle filled with Abigail’s famous faux botanicals which look remarkably real. These include single stems of roses, peonies, lavender and foliage. Or you can go for a beautiful bouquet which will last you for years. The faux bouquets look foraged and wild rather than perfectly put together. Whether you want to create a quaint English garden arrangement or wow with a tropical rain forest, the choice is yours. Look out for the amazing giant cacti collection which includes a round squat Goldenball, Sinai variety or Great Sandy.
In terms of furniture, you will see select pieces strategically placed around the store. The wonderful Wild Bill Sofa and Colorado Charlie Armchair upholstered in shaggy premium wool are lavish and plush. The red and black pattern gave these lounging seats a real kick.
Also on display was the Luis Hide Butterfly Chair which was also rocking the cowboy theme. Not only do these look amazing but they are comfy. It’s such an iconic structure so is an investment purchase which will give you pleasure for many years.
The Woodley Sofa is just so rustic and ideal for a conservatory overlooking a garden. It has been manufactured in Indonesia using natural and reclaimed materials. With hessian textile upholstery stitched in a haphazard patchwork and the carved wooden frame, it was very unusual.
This Louis Gold Hand Chair stood out. The handshape is cleverly carved from wood to create a comfy seat. Brilliant for a home which needs a statement piece to bling up a room.
You can pick up some luxurious handwoven Berber rugs in-store in buttery creams with dramatic patterns. Also, check out the Oxley Jute braided rugs, which are a round shape and perfect for placing under a circular dining table or coffee table.
As you wander around the store, you will spot some quirky decorative pieces. Look out for the sandstone hand-carved Gandhi Candle Holders, and Sea Horse Tea Lights and big Gold Glasses. Add to your home menagerie with Kipper the Pelican, Toby the Owl, Lurcher the Dog or the Dachshund Money Bank.
Other items include; textured furry cushions with Mongolian lamb fur, grand beaded chandeliers, distressed faux leather pouffes, rough organic vases, vintage style glass jars, convex mirrors and industrial style furniture.
Abigail Ahern Shop Interiors
This shop exterior is in a traditional style which is double fronted and painted a dark colour. As you enter, the interiors are also deliciously dark, which is very much in keeping with Abigail’s inky colour palette. The interior space is loosely zoned so you will find a mass of faux flowers and plants in one area and rugs in another. However, make sure you wander around the entire store because there is always something interesting nestled in between objects.
The styling gives you a sense of Abigail’s love for intoxicating and murky colours, dramatic touches and eclectic mix of materials, textures and styles. Abigail doesn’t do neat and perfect; she loves the lived-in look, which is a little messed up but works. Her slightly masculine meets sophisticated and sultry style is glamour with a hammer. If you’re jaw drops to the floor and your heart skips a beat, it’s mission accomplished!
