For my birthday lunch, I suggested Apricity in Mayfair, London W1K, to my partner, who kindly made the booking. This Michelin Green Star restaurant caught my eye while I was searching for a posh, dog-friendly place, and the tasting menu suited us perfectly, as I’m vegetarian and my partner is pescatarian. If you’re looking for a memorable lunch in Mayfair, a Michelin Green Star restaurant in London, or a sustainable fine dining experience, Apricity London W1K is well worth trying.
“Laid back Mayfair dining with thoughtful cooking, elegant presentation and delightful touches throughout the meal, they even brought a little birthday treat to the table,” Homegirl London.
Apricity Lunch Menu
Apricity is a Michelin Green Star restaurant operated by multi-award-winning chef-owner Chantelle Nicholson. The kitchen specialises in conscious cooking, using seasonal British produce sourced from small-scale farms and foraged ingredients. I’d recommend trying one of the tasting menus. We went with the five-course option at £85 per person; there’s also a seven-course version for £99. The menu changes seasonally, so it’s always worth checking online before visiting. Wine pairings are available, but I kept things simple with a gin and tonic.
To start, homemade Wildfarmed sourdough arrived with salted Ivy House Farm butter. The bread had a satisfying chew and a crisp crust, while the butter was rich and creamy. Alongside it came two chickpea mini doughnuts and a small cup of warming miso, a thoughtful little introduction to the meal.
The first course was beetroot gazpacho with beetkraut, sunflower, crispy shallots and nasturtium. I’m not usually a beetroot person, but when a top restaurant puts it on the menu, I’ll give it a try. It often turns out brilliantly, which was definitely the case here. The chilled gazpacho was fresh and earthy, with a gentle tang from the beetkraut. It was also plated in a rose-like swirl, which looked beautiful. Crispy shallots added crunch, while the nasturtium provided a soft peppery lift. Another starter option was Dorset venison terrine with chicken liver parfait and rhubarb ketchup.
Next for me was the Black Pearl with enoki mushrooms, wild garlic, and XO sauce. Deep savoury flavours permeated the dish, with the mushrooms providing plenty of umami. The wild garlic offered a fresh, green note without overwhelming the palate, while the XO sauce added a rich, savoury depth.
My partner chose the smoked hake with crème fraîche, confit egg yolk, and shallots. The fish was delicate with a subtle smokiness, balanced by the creamy egg yolk and crème fraîche. The shallots added a slight sharpness that lifted the dish nicely. Alternatively, you could opt for Isle of Skye hand-dived scallops with Jerusalem artichoke and chilli.
For the main course, I chose roasted cabbage with miso, smoked marrowfat peas, and sambal. A wonderful reminder that vegetables can truly take centre stage. The cabbage had a deep roasted flavour with lightly caramelised edges, while the miso contributed savoury richness. Smoky marrowfat peas provided earthy depth, and the sambal added a gentle warmth.
Meanwhile, my partner had butter-poached pollock with Langoustine bisque, orzo, and baked lemon. The pollock was tender and delicate, while the bisque added a deep, rich seafood flavour. Orzo provided a comforting texture, and the baked lemon brightened the dish with a fresh citrus note. Another main option was wild Dorset venison served with Princess Peach squash and black garlic ketchup.
Before dessert, a small pre-dessert appeared as a palate cleanser. A lovely reminder that you’re dining somewhere quite special.
Dessert was a chouxnut served with caramelised Win-Win white chocolate, Kentish apple, and crème fraîche. Win-Win is the UK’s first cocoa-free chocolate alternative created using fermentation technology. The chouxnut was indulgent yet balanced by the apple’s freshness.
The Kentish rhubarb with lemon curd, shortbread, and rhubarb granita looked stunning when it arrived. Bright pink rhubarb, delicate plating, and sharp, vibrant flavours made for a lovely finish. Tangy rhubarb, creamy lemon curd, and buttery shortbread worked together beautifully. It turned out that the five courses were perfect; we left the restaurant feeling content rather than uncomfortably full.
Helpful Information About Apricity Mayfair
Apricity offers a relaxed yet refined atmosphere, making it feel special without being overly formal. I really liked the interiors, with their distressed walls and natural aesthetic. The restaurant spans two floors, with a dining area on the ground floor and a lower-ground dining room. On the lower level, there is also a chef’s table providing a semi-private dining experience with views of the kitchen. Guests can sit close to the action, watch the chefs prepare each dish, and enjoy a curated seasonal menu.
I also appreciated the casual dress code. I wore trainers, which suited me perfectly since we were going for a walk in Regent’s Park with a friend after lunch.
