It was Friday night, and we felt like a treat, so we ordered a food delivery from the Benares Indian Restaurant. We weren’t disappointed because this modern Indian cuisine uses the best British ingredients. The Benares Indian Restaurant is located in Mayfair and ranked among the top London Indian Restaurants. Choose from a premium selection of vegan curries and favourites like Rogan Josh and luxury Biryani. For Indian fine dining in London, whether you are visiting the restaurant or ordering takeaway, you must try Benares.

Our Benares Indian Restaurant Food Delivery
We selected vegan and vegetarian options from the menu. For starters, we ordered Aloo Tikki Chaat which is an Indian style hash brown potato cake served with yoghurt, mint tamarind and pickled onion. We also tried the Vegetable Momo, which is steamed vegetable dumplings and a dipping sauce. Both were delicious and a great way to kick off our meal. Other starters include Lamb or Vegetarian Samosa, Samosa Chaat and Chicken Momo.

For our main, we choose Chhole; a vegan slow-cooked North Indian Style chickpea dish which is flavoured with black cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. We over-ordered so saved part of this dish to reheat the next day. It tasted just as wonderful reheated which we were pleased about. Other curries included Paneer Kadai, Chicken Makhani (Benares Signature Dish), Rogan Josh and Fish Moilee (Sea Bass).

We added a small pot of vegan Dal Tadka; a subtle tasting slow-cooked yellow lentils tempered with cumin and garlic.

The side of Saag Aloo was rather tasty. It is new potatoes with vibrant green spiced pureed spinach.

Tandoor choices range from Chicken Tikka to Lamb Seekh Kebab, Prawn Kasundi and pieces of Paneer Malai Tikka which we sampled.

The Saffron Rice was enough to share between the two of us. Larger Biryani rice options include vegetable, chicken, lamb or prawn flavours. These are premium basmati rice flavoured with rose and mint served with roasted cumin raita. Plain and Garlic Naan along with Roti are available should you want bread.

Prices are on the expensive side, but Homeboy and I both agreed that it was worth the money. Takeaway Starters cost £11, Tandoor Dishes are £10-24, Curries are £15-24, Biryani for two is £28-32, Sides are £8, and Bread or Rice is £4-6. The food was well packaged with labels telling you what the dishes are.
