Bengali British Brunch At Momlette Shoreditch E2

Momlette on Cheshire Street, just off Brick Lane in Shoreditch, London E2, is a cosy little café with a unique idea. It takes British brunch favourites and adds a Bengali twist, creating dishes that feel both familiar and exciting. Think eggs, parathas, and masala beans sharing the same plate. It’s the kind of place you’d want for a lazy breakfast, a catch-up brunch, or a relaxed lunch after wandering around Brick Lane’s markets. If you’re looking for the best brunch spots in Shoreditch, Momlette is a name to consider.

Momlette Brunch Menu

I visited for a solo brunch and couldn’t resist the Vegan Momlette. This chickpea omelette came wrapped in paratha with vegan feta, spinach and mushrooms, all finished with truffle oil. It was earthy, flaky and delicious, so I had no trouble clearing the plate. Egg lovers can tuck into the original Momlette, stuffed with mozzarella and turkey ham, or try the Scrambled Momlette piled onto sourdough. They also serve eggs Benedict, Florentine and Royale, or a Half English with masala beans, sausages and paratha for those who like it traditional with a twist. Brunch dishes cost between £8.95 and £12.95. If you’re in a hurry, grab a croissant, muffin or cronut from the counter.

The menu goes beyond brunch. For lunch, options include Bhuna Roast Beef Brisket, Lamb Shank Mangsho, and Half Road Chicken Deshi Roast, priced from £16.50-20.50. Smaller bites feature Bengali Scotch Egg, Pulled Brisket Spring Rolls with coriander chutney, or gourmet Fries (Okra, Chilli Paneer, or Chaat).

The drinks menu includes coffee, teas, juices, smoothies, and mocktails. I enjoyed a chai latte, warm and spiced, with just the right amount of sweetness. You can also choose from iced coffees, fresh orange juice, and vibrant mocktails. Drinks are priced from £2.50 for tea up to £7.50 for mocktails.
