If you’re looking for a food hall near Liverpool Street, Boxhall City is an excellent choice. Its kitchens offer everything from baos to burgers, curries, chicken, salads and desserts. You can enjoy cuisines from Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and beyond. The atmosphere ranges from relaxed to lively, depending on when you go and if they are hosting an event. Boxhall is perfect for a quick solo lunch, an after-work bite, or a longer evening out. Drinks make it easy to stay, with cocktails, craft beers, and wines flowing from the bar.
What’s On The Menu At Boxhall City
Comfort food is featured at Eggslut, where soft brioche buns enclose fillings like spicy fried chicken with pickled cabbage and egg, or scrambled egg with portobello truffle mushrooms. Their signature coddled egg in a jar, served with potato purée, chives, and baguette slices, is a dish you’ll want to photograph before digging in. Meanwhile, Burger & Beyond offers a classic cheeseburger with a dry-aged beef patty, double cheese, smoky mayo, and onion, plus a bacon upgrade featuring crispy pancetta. Their fried chicken burgers are equally tempting, especially the hot honey version.
There is plenty more chicken across the hall. Biléyi by MsJoyceK offers a plantain and chicken burger, and hot honey pili pili wings, kidney bean stew, with pineapple crumble as a sweet finish. Baked Bird keeps things lighter with oven-baked wings and strips covered in sticky glazes. Original Flava brings the flavours of the Caribbean, from jerk chicken and curried goat to fried plantain, all full of spice and warmth.
Asian cuisine includes Little Bao Boy, where I ordered the pulled mushroom bao and the panko halloumi bao. Inamo Sukoshi specialises in Japanese favourites with sushi rolls, sashimi, poke bowls, katsu curry, ramen, and tapas-style dishes. There’s also Farzi London, which draws on Indian street food, featuring chaat, samosas, kebabs, chicken lollipops, curries, wraps, and loaded fries that burst with flavour.
Singaporean street food comes from Old Chang Kee, known for their curry puffs. Hot, flaky, and filled with savoury spices, they are addictive. I’m hooked on the vegetarian version and used to walk to Covent Garden for mine, so having them here near Liverpool Street is a welcome discovery.
Latin American and Mexican cuisine introduces even more variety. Club Mexicana offers a vegan take on Mexican street food, with tacos, burritos, and nachos. Nativo explores further south with ceviche, empanadas, and grilled meats. I chose a cheese quesadilla with smashed avocado.
When you’re looking for something fresh, Wholesome Greens offers a variety of salads and bowls. I tried the Greek style with feta, olives, and crisp vegetables, which was fabulous. Other options include buffalo chicken, chipotle chicken, and harissa cauliflower.
Dessert is provided by Soft Serve Society, featuring swirls of vanilla, matcha, and charcoal ice creams topped with playful garnishes. I ordered the Fogato, which involves pouring hot espresso over soft serve, and enjoyed the contrast between the hot and cold elements.
The drinks list itself is a highlight. Cocktails range from a fiery Spicy Mango Margarita to the fruity Island Bubble Tea with pearls, alongside refreshing spritzes and classics like the Espresso Martini. Craft beers and wines complete the selection, so whether you want a quick sip or a long evening with friends, you’ll be well catered for.
