La Fromagerie is a cheese lover’s delight on Moxon Street in the heart of Marylebone, London, W1. I recently popped in for breakfast to try their famed cheese and tomato toastie. Known for their focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, I wondered how their breakfast menu would stack up, and it did! If you’re searching for the best cheese toasties in London, breakfast in Marylebone or a cheese shop in W1, La Fromagerie is beckoning.
“If you’re in the area, La Fromagerie is worth a stop, whether for breakfast, lunch or just to browse their incredible cheese selection,” Homegirl London.
La Fromagerie Breakfast Menu
The cheese and tomato toastie I ordered was everything I hoped for. The farmhouse cheese, perfectly melted, was rich and tangy, paired with sweet vine-ripened tomatoes. The sourdough was wonderfully crisp and golden, balancing out the gooeyness of the filling. It’s a simple dish, but done exceptionally well, showcasing the quality of their ingredients, and it costs £8.50.
Other classic dishes include scrambled eggs on sourdough toast or boiled eggs with soldiers. There’s a variety of sandwiches, such as smoked pancetta, back bacon, or Cumberland sausage on a brioche bun with homemade tomato ketchup. They also serve kippers from Severn & Wye Smokery, a Goldstein smoked salmon plate, and Haas avocado on toasted sourdough with an optional addition of Westcombe ricotta or barrel-aged feta. These cost £7.50-13.50.
For a lighter option, there’s French farmhouse yoghurt served plain or with fruit, homemade muesli, granola, or a breakfast pot with yoghurt, fruit compote, and granola. You can also enjoy a refreshing pink grapefruit. On colder days, the porridge made with organic jumbo rolled oats comes with either Pyrénées honey, muscovado sugar, or seasonal fruit compote. Or you may just fancy coffee by Le Piantagioni from Florence with a croissant or pastry. Muesli and granola are £8.50-9.50; porridge bowls are £7-9.50.
