It’s official; Bright Skies is the Dulux Colour of the Year 2022. It’s an optimistic, refreshing, light, airy shade connecting us with nature. I love Bright Skies and cannot wait to create interior mood boards using this adorable breezy blue hue. Covid lockdowns helped us appreciate the precious moments we spent outside connecting with nature. The rest of the time, we were hunkered down at home, staring at our four walls, wondering what colour we should paint them. Bright Skies is the perfect way to connect with nature and bring inside a piece of the sky. Join me as I introduce you to the beautiful Bright Skies Dulux Colour of the Year 2022.
Introducing Bright Skies Dulux Colour of the Year 2022
Every year Dulux gathers a host of independent international leaders to pinpoint the Dulux Colour of the Year. These acclaimed individuals are from the world of design, fashion, colour and other creative sectors. They discuss forthcoming trends from lifestyle to cultural movements, innovations, and much more. They select one overriding Colour of the Year and four associated colour palettes at the end of three days. The global pandemic was a vital part of those discussions, and this year the group met virtually rather than in person.
It makes perfect sense that Bright Skies was the choice for the Dulux Colour of the Year 2022. After various Covid lockdowns and being limited to how much time we could go outside, craving blue skies and nature was what most felt. Those lucky enough to have a garden or balcony cherished their time when they could be at one with nature.
Hopefully, after those days of uncertainty and feelings of isolation, we have emerged with renewed optimism. Many of us have had time to reflect on our ‘old life’ and look forward to a new one. At the very least, we have realised what’s important such as family, friends and a safe space.
Our homes have become a priority and somewhere we can feel safe. Many of us bought new furniture and home accessories and did a spot of DIY during the lockdown. If you didn’t get around to decorating, perhaps Bright Skies will entice you to fill your home with a breath of fresh air.
Four Dulux Colour Palettes With Bright Skies At The Heart
Consider four Dulux colour palettes if you want to combine other colours with Bright Skies.
The Greenhouse Palette is all about the benefits of the great outdoors with blues and greens. The fresh, natural and gentle tones are borrowed from nature. Moon Cloud, River Valley and Denim Drift are some gorgeous Greenhouse colours. The must-have accessory for this colour scheme is natural plants.
The Workshop Palette uses multi-coloured shades to create comfortable, fresh and flexible spaces. After Covid, we have seen just how flexible our homes can be. Rooms can have many purposes, from offices to homeschooling or a play area. This palette aims to inspire if you enjoy writing poetry, making art, or listening to music. You’ll enjoy the light and warm colours that let your imagination roam free. The vibrant blood orange shade is lively and sits alongside Healing Spice, Rose Canopy and Golden Cookie.
The Studio Palette allows us to escape from everyday chores and worries to recharge and feel inspired. The consoling tones aim to soothe the soul, including Restful Slumber and Birch Root. These soft and airy shades help your room feel comfortable and cosy.
The Salon Palette makes living spaces ready for anything with a fresh blank canvas of whites and airy neutrals. Remove the clutter for a sense of freedom. Enhance 0ff whites and strong mineral neutrals like Rubble Road and Cliff Walk with tactile textiles and home accessories.
