While exploring East Dulwich for my blog, I stumbled upon Madelina, a neighbourhood café tucked along East Dulwich Grove. From the outside, it’s pretty unassuming, but inside, they’ve created a warm and characterful space. It’s calm and cosy, making it ideal for a solo brunch or a quiet catch-up. If you’re searching for a good breakfast in SE22 or somewhere for coffee in East Dulwich, Madelina is worth noting.
“Madelina invites you into their cosy front room where you can savour your brunch with plenty of vegan and veggie options,” Homegirl London.
Madelina Café Brunch Menu
The brunch menu (which was different from the website) features generous meals with Mediterranean influences. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast, which came with halloumi, falafel, fried egg (I asked for mine well done), tomato, mushrooms with garlic and onion, spinach and a couple of toasted sourdough slices with butter. It was well balanced and the flavours worked beautifully together. They also do a full English version, both cost £15 and are worth every penny.
Brunch options also include avocado toast with poached egg, feta and cherry tomatoes, a falafel and sweet potato bowl called Garden Bliss with hummus, spinach, avocado and garlic sauce, plus a vibrant halloumi salad and classic eggs royale. If you’re after something handheld, they offer bagels and toasted focaccia filled with combos like bacon and egg, falafel with garlic mayo, smoked salmon and cream cheese, or halloumi with tapenade. Big plates cost around £14–15, with bagels and focaccia priced at £9–11.
The coffee was smooth and well-made, and they also serve tea and other hot drinks. Add a plain croissant, almond croissant, pain au chocolate or cinnamon bun if you want a happy way to start your day!
Helpful Information About Madelina East Dulwich
The café has a few small tables outside at the front, and a quiet little decked area at the back with a sun sail and a privacy wall. Inside, it’s relaxed and homely with a piano in the corner, leafy plants, armchairs, and shelves filled with books, vases and trinkets. It feels more like someone’s front parlour than a café, and that’s precisely what makes it so appealing.
Madelina is located at 75 Dulwich Grove, London SE22 8PR. It’s a five-minute walk from East Dulwich Station and close to Lordship Lane. Opening hours are 8 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday, 9 am to 3 pm on Saturdays and 10 am to 3 pm on Sundays. For more information, check out the Madelina website. There’s also a sister café in Brixton.
