Cantonese Lunch At Bun House Disco London E2

Situated at the corner of Bethnal Green Road and Brick Lane, Bun House Disco is a vibrant Cantonese restaurant that evokes the spirit of 1980s downtown Hong Kong. We popped in for lunch and were delighted they allowed our little Jack Tzu dog inside. If you’re after some of the best dim sum in East London or a lovely lunch spot near Bethnal Green, Bun House Disco is worth a visit.

Bun House Disco Cantonese Menu

The Cantonese menu centres around their signature buns, which are light, fluffy, and beautifully bouncy. I had a delightful vegetable-filled bun and loved every mouthful. Meat eaters can choose from pig, lamb, beef, or chicken. They also serve a sweet custard bun, which I will save for my next visit. If you prefer to enjoy them at home, you can buy a set of six to steam yourself.

bun house disco prawn dumplings

Dim sum options feature prawn dumplings with bamboo shoots and prawn and pork dumplings. My partner savoured the former alongside prawn wontons in Dan Dan sauce and hasn’t stopped raving about them since!

Other highlights on the menu include a crispy beef tongue bun with canton salsa, salt-and-pepper squid, and stir-fried cheung fun, served with chopped lamb or mixed vegetables. Their soups range from hot and sour to Dan Dan, and shi mo. For smaller plates, they serve dishes such as smashed cucumber, aubergine with gwawei sauce, brussel sprouts with soy butter, and sichuan pepper cabbage.

bun house disco french toast

We finished our meal with indulgent kaya french toast with jasmine clotted cream. It was the perfect sweet ending and worth sharing.

bun house disco ice tea

My partner opted for an iced tea, although the cocktail menu was tempting, particularly the old-fashioned sesame.
