I first stumbled across Golden Yolk while exploring East Dulwich for my blog, and I’ve already been back for more. Tucked away on Grove Vale, this relaxed café serves all the brunch favourites, including full breakfasts, Turkish eggs, bagels, muffins, pancakes, and more. With Allpress coffee for your caffeine fix and friendly service to match, it’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to. If you’re searching for the best brunch places in East Dulwich or cafés along Grove Vale, Golden Yolk is worth a visit.
“Golden Yolk is a low-key eatery in London SE22 which delivers all the essential ingredients for a brilliant brunch,” Homegirl London.
Golden Yolk Brunch Menu
On my first visit, I ordered the American-style pancakes accompanied by fresh berries, yoghurt and maple syrup. They arrived in a stack of three, light and airy, and I enjoyed every mouthful, leaving with a smile on my face. You can also opt for French toast instead of pancakes and choose toppings like caramel mascarpone with banana, lemon mascarpone with strawberries, or go savoury with crispy bacon or fried chicken glazed in hot honey. Prices for these indulgent plates range from £12.80 to £13.80.
For my second visit, I brought my partner and our feisty little Jack Tzu dog. We shared the Golden Yolk veggie, which came generously loaded with two fried eggs (which we requested well-done), slices of golden halloumi, smashed avocado, baked beans, garlicky mushrooms, crisp hash browns, and slices of buttered sourdough. Hearty and filling, it’s a full plate with a bit of everything. There’s also a meat version that includes bacon and Cumberland sausages. Both options are priced at £14.50; however, you can also customise your plate with sides if you prefer to build your own breakfast.
For a lighter or egg-focused option, the menu includes Turkish-style eggs, smoked salmon with poached eggs, chorizo scramble, or a three-egg omelette with your choice of fillings. You can also keep things simple with eggs your way served on sourdough, a bagel, a muffin, or hash browns. These dishes range from £8.80 to £12.20. Bagels and muffins are also available with pairings like avo and halloumi, sausage and egg, or chorizo and egg, priced between £6.80 and £9.50.
To balance out our veggie breakfast, we chose the mushroom mess. It was a pile of sautéed garlic, oyster, and chestnut mushrooms, wilted spinach, and juicy cherry tomatoes on toasted sourdough. Earthy and rich, with the tomatoes adding a burst of sweetness, this dish was simple but full of flavour.
The drinks menu features smooth, double-shot coffees made with Allpress beans. My latte was perfect, you’ll also find turmeric, matcha, and chai lattes, available hot or iced, plus a small but decent tea selection. Cold drinks include Daily Dose pressed juices, Jarr kombucha, and Karma sodas, as well as still and sparkling water.
