We were out walking one day when we passed by the lovely Legare Italian Restaurant Shad Thames. It is near Tower Bridge, in Bermondsey, London SE1. We noticed they had a couple of seats outside so decided to pop back again for lunch. Fast forward a few days, and we did just that on Wednesday. We had a wonderful Italian meal which was £20 for two courses. It was half that price when we went to pay because they had extended the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme. We felt as though we had stumbled upon a romantic date night worthy eatery so patted ourselves on the back. If you are looking for Italian Restaurants near Tower Bridge or the best places to eat in Bermondsey, make sure you dine at Legare Italian Restaurant Shad Thames.

Legare Italian Restaurant Shad Thames Lunch Menu
The restaurant serves antipasti and pasta, which is made daily on the premises. The menu is small but well thought through, so there will be something for vegetarians, meat-eaters and fish lovers. On our visit, the restaurant was serving a two-course lunch.
Ricotta Ravioli
We selected the two vegetarian options to share. The fresh-made Ricotta Ravioli was delicious with a hint of lemon and on a bed of San Marzano plum tomatoes.
Cavatelli with Pesto Alla Genovese
The second dish was Cavatelli with Pesto Alla Genovese. Cavatelli is small pasta shells made from eggless semolina dough, so this is perfect for vegans. The pesto sauce was a vibrant green colour. Pieces of potatoes, along with green beans, made this dish a delight. The other pasta options included Pappardelle with Fennel Sausage Ragu and Linguine with Lemon Butter and Bottarga (roe sac of a fish). A simple Radicchio and Oakleaf Salad accompanied the pasta.

We had room to share two desserts. The Cannolo was cute, filled with light ricotta and pistachios on the end. My favourite was the Crema Chocolate Mousse served with strawberries. It was creamy and decadent, with a drizzle of olive oil over the top. The other option was Affogato which is ice cream with espresso poured over it.

Antipasti include Peaches with Gorgonzola Dolce and Friggitelli Peppers with Roasted Garlic and White Bean Puree. Non-pasta dishes such as Lamb Shank or Brill may also be available. Check the menu before you go because they update it regularly. The restaurant serves natural Italian wines which is something to ask about on your visit.
