I was in the area for a meeting near Bank and decided to check out Where’s Fred’s in Frederick’s Place, London EC2. It looked charming from the outside, and thankfully, it was just as inviting inside. Nestled within a lovely historic building just moments from the bustling City streets, it feels like a little hidden gem in the heart of the Square Mile. If you’re after a relaxed brunch or coffee spot near Bank Station, Where’s Fred’s EC2 in London is definitely worth knowing about.

Where’s Fred’s Brunch Menu
Where’s Fred’s is a day-to-night café and wine bar founded by Chelsea Finch, the entrepreneur behind the District café group. During the day, the focus is on satisfying brunch dishes and speciality coffee from Origin. The brunch menu is straightforward, which honestly makes life simpler when choosing what to order. They also serve a lovely lunch, and later in the day, the menu shifts towards Mediterranean-inspired small plates and natural wines.
I chose one of the sweet options, Fred’s Loaded Banana Bread, topped with Greek yoghurt, seasonal fruit, and honey. It was simply perfect. The banana bread was soft and slightly warm with a lovely natural sweetness, while the yoghurt and fruit kept things fresh and balanced. My other consideration was the granola with honey, yoghurt, and fruit, which sounded equally appealing if you’re after something lighter.
If you prefer something savoury, there are plenty of options too. You’ll find poached eggs with avocado on toast topped with mustard cress and omega seeds, poached eggs with bacon, hollandaise, and pecorino breadcrumbs on toasted muffins, and a more indulgent version with salmon and caviar. There are also feta or chorizo shakshuka dishes with poached eggs served alongside sourdough. Brunch dishes range from £6 to £15, and extras such as avocado, smoked salmon, bacon, or eggs can be added for £4.50.
Helpful Information About Where’s Fred’s Bank
Where’s Fred’s is located at 7 Frederick’s Place, London EC2R 8EA, less than a minute’s walk from Bank station and also close to Moorgate and Liverpool Street stations. The café sits within a charming courtyard and occupies the ground floor of a beautifully restored historic building.
Most places nearby tend to be large spaces with a quite corporate feel, so this was a welcome change. The interior is contemporary yet still cosy and intimate. There are a few tables and stools outside, and inside, the space is divided into two sections. I sat in the front area opposite the counter where brunch and coffee are served. Towards the back, people were catching up over coffee or holding informal meetings, which created a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
It’s a lovely place to meet a colleague, catch up with a friend, or simply enjoy a solo brunch. I felt completely at ease dining alone here and would happily return next time I’m in the area. For opening times, reservations, and more information, visit the Where’s Fred’s website.
