Just inside the atmospheric grounds of Abney Park in Stoke Newington, Abney Park Café is a relaxed all-day spot run by the team behind Sabel Food. I stopped by twice recently, once for a solo lunch and again with a friend, drawn back by the flavour-focused menu and calm surroundings. It’s a perfect choice if you’re looking for lunch in Stoke Newington or a coffee stop near Abney Park Cemetery. With tasty toppings on sourdough, tempting toasties, satisfying soups and tasty treats, there will be something to make your visit memorable.
“Abney Park Café is a great spot for brunch, lunch or a quiet coffee, whether you’re visiting solo or meeting a friend,” Homegirl London.
Abney Park Cafe Menu
The menu is short but carefully considered, offering seasonal plates made with premium ingredients. On my first visit, I had the Lincolnshire Poacher cheese toastie, layered with grilled leeks and wild garlic pesto, rich, savoury, and deeply satisfying. I was pleased to find the wild garlic pesto was subtle, and I thought the leeks paired beautifully with the West Country Cheddar meets Comté cheese.
On my return, I opted for the roast tomatoes on toast with a spread of ricotta and a sprinkling of herbs. The tomatoes were so juicy, the ricotta light and creamy, balanced by the herby topping, a few tangy capers and the crunchy toast beneath.
Also on offer are dishes like burrata with courgette and grilled red onions, smoked bacon bap with maple butter and house brown sauce, and caponata and borlotti bean soup with bread. For lighter bites, there’s Estate Dairy or coconut yoghurt with a fruit compote and granola, and simple toast with butter and compote. Pastries, cinnamon buns, cookies and croissants are also available at the counter. Price range: £4–12.
Hot drinks include Allpress espresso-based coffees, builder’s tea, chai and matcha lattes. I tried their iced latte, hot latte, and the sparkling peach iced tea the second time, which was refreshingly fruity and perfect for a warm day. Cold drinks also include iced matcha, fig leaf lemonade, and natural wines by the glass.
