On a whim, we stopped for lunch at the Pear Tree Café in Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London WC2. We walked from London Bridge to Covent Garden, taking the scenic route through the quiet backstreets behind Holborn. As we wandered past historic law chambers and under leafy trees, we emerged into Lincoln’s Inn Fields, London’s largest public square. With our cheerful little Jack Tzu trotting beside us, the Pear Tree Café caught our eye. It has a calm, welcoming atmosphere and plenty of outdoor seating, ideal for a sunny afternoon. The menu has tempting options like flatbreads with fabulous toppings, a falafel plate, seasonal salads, and more. If you’re looking for a great lunch spot near Holborn, the Pear Tree Café in Lincoln’s Inn Fields is charming.
“This adorable eatery delivers a beautiful lunch menu, and the setting is idyllic, in the heart of Lincoln’s Inn Fields,” Homegirl London.
Pear Tree Café Lunch Menu
I’d previously been to their Clapham Common branch for breakfast, so it was lovely to try the Lincoln’s Inn Fields location for lunch, which is available from noon.
We shared the delicious roast courgette flatbread topped with chilli butter, burrata, and lemon. Other flatbreads on offer include spicy lamb with herby labneh and pickled sumac onions or Tropea onion with fennel salami, taleggio and basil. These cost £12.50-13 and are super tasty. You can add a seasonal salad to any of them for an additional £4.80. We went for their larger salad consisting of spring greens with ricotta, croutons, peas, radish, chilli oil and seeds. It’s £14.50 and worth every penny.
If you’re hungrier, the large plates feature risotto primavera, smoked trout with a six-minute egg, a coconut chickpea dahl with toasted almonds and a green herb falafel plate with tahini labneh. There’s also a generous burger in a brioche bun with sweet potato fries or a seasonal salad. Or you may prefer the tarragon and lemon chicken sandwich with avocado and slaw. These cost from £14.20 to £17.
Check the counter for sweet treats. Pear Tree’s baked goods include firm favourites like cookies, rich chocolate brownies, and muffins from blueberry to carrot, walnut, or raspberry and white chocolate. To drink, we tried the Hibiscus and Rose Premium Soda by Something and Nothing, which is refreshing, lightly floral, and ideal for the sunshine. They also serve coffees, matcha, turmeric lattes, and a range of wines, spritzes, and teas.
