I visited The Dusty Knuckle Bakery, Harringay, for a delightful lunch experience. It stands out along Green Lanes, where Turkish restaurants and baklava speciality stores dominate. Aside from their excellent bread, pastries and filled focaccias, Dusty Knuckle aids at-risk youth through hands-on training and mentorship, integrating these efforts into their bustling bakery operations. The Dusty Knuckle Lunch Menu
Their lunch menu, available from 11 am to 3 pm, boasts a tempting array of sandwiches, predominantly featuring their freshly baked sourdough or focaccia bread. The Focaccia options are mouth-watering. The Meatballs Sarnie, with juicy pork meatballs in a rich tomato sauce, accompanied by raclette cheese, pickled cucumbers, mustard, crème fraiche dressing and green salad, is a feast within focaccia.
I chose the Roasted Squash Sarnie, an extraordinary blend of spiced roasted squash, red onion, herby labneh, chilli harissa butter, charred cabbage, herb salad and dukka, all enveloped in focaccia. Also tempting was the Autumn Greens and Romesco, a mix of charred cabbage, sprouting broccoli, romesco sauce, fennel, parsley, caper salad and crispy onions.
Previous lunch menus have featured Preserved Lemon with Olive Chicken and Paneer with Spiced Tomato Sarnies.
For cheese lovers, the Cheese Toastie combines cheddar, feta, black olive, and romesco on sourdough. Soups are also available, like the Spiced Pumpkin option on my visit. Complementing a sandwich or toastie with a Kohlrabi or Green Salad is a good choice.
Those wanting a sweet treat will be happy with the pastries, like the Custard with Fruit or Date and Cinnamon.
Beverages range from Coffees and Teas to Homemade Lemonade, with Wine and Beer available post-noon.

They also serve breakfast items like Croissants, Pain au Chocolat, Morning Buns, Egg and Chilli Cheese Focaccia and a Bacon Sourdough Sarnie. From Thursday to Saturday, after 5.30 pm, they offer Pizza, which is also available for delivery.
The interiors are more DIY recycled in style with a cork tile-clad counter. It’s a friendly place with an eclectic customer base from young to old and mums with kids. Dogs are welcome.
