The ‘Pantone Color Institute’ released their ‘Fashion Color Trend Report for Spring/Summer 2022’ to coincide with New York Fashion Week. It gives everyone a peek at which catwalk colours are going to be popping next year. There are two ‘Color Palettes – New York Fashion Week (a palette that blends comfort with familiarity and unexpected delight) and Core Classics (classic and versatile seasonless shades). These colours are likely to be snapped up by interiors brands and will make it into our homes through paint, wallpaper, furniture and decorative accessories. The colours straddle our need for feeling calm and secure with being optimistic and a desire to be spontaneous as we seek enjoyment. I’ve grouped the fifteen colours into four sections called Deep Dramatics, Pretty Pastels, Naturally Good and Glad Greys. (I know that sometimes I spelling Color the American way and other times the British way – I’m using Color when I’m referring to the Pantone Color Institue or the Report).
Pantone Spring/Summer 2022 Colours
Deep Dramatics includes primary colours and bold colours like Poinciana (Pantone 18-1564), a commanding heated red. Innuendo (Pantone 18-2042) is a fabulous fuchsia pinky shade. Dahlia (Pantone 18-3324), a dynamic purple. Harbor Blue (Pantone 18-4728) is almost like a deep teal. Skydiver (Pantone 19-4151) reminds me of a dark royal blue. Daffodil (Pantone 14-0850) is a dirty yellow that’s joyful like a spontaneous blooming lovely spring garden. I’ve picked out the Les Ottomans and Amara Red Eye Cushion to showcase the red Poinciana colour, £100 from Amara.
Pretty Pastels include the super cute Spun Sugar (Pantone 12-4401), a light and airy blue hue and Gossamer Pink (Pantone 13-1513), a powdery pop of pinky candy flossy loveliness. Spun Sugar and Gossamer Pink are like the colours on the Versace Home Le Jardin de Versace Tableware Collection from Amara.
Naturally Good tones include Snow White (Pantone 11-0602), a clean white that says simplicity and inner peace. Perfectly Pale (Pantone 13-0003) is a subtle sandy beige colour like an inviting beach. A richer brown is Coca Mocha (Pantone 18-1019), a warm coffee colour. These earthy shades will work well next to Basil (Pantone 16-6216), a sweet and savoury green that connects us to nature. The Green Industrial Storage Trolley is similar to the Basil Pantone colour, £530 from Rockett StGeorge.
Glad Greys include Glacier Lake (Pantone 16-4118), a calm and cool icy blue with glints of grey. Northern Droplet (Pantone 14-4104) is a pale grey for tranquillity. If you’d prefer a dark grey, try Poppy Seed (Pantone 18-4004). The Calvin Klein Grey Balian Rug reminds me of the Poppy Seed Colour, £1799 from Amara.

Go to the Pantone Website and read the ‘Pantone Colour Institute Release Fashion Colour Trend Report Spring Summer 2022 for New York‘. Pantone LLC is the global authority on color, and they provide professional color standards for the design industry. At the end of the year, they will announce the main colour for 2022, and I’m excited to discover what that will be.
