Restaurant Review: Pedler Peckham Rye. Homeboy and I were in Peckham and decided to pop into this neighbourhood eatery for brunch one Thursday. If you’re looking for the best places to eat brunch in Peckham or weekend brunch in SE15 try the Pedler Peckham Rye.

Pedler Peckham Rye Brunch Menu
The restaurant uses seasonal ingredients so check online for an up to date menu. On our visit we sampled the brunch menu. Egg Dishes included Avocado with Poached Egg on St John’s Toast dressed in Lemon Pumpkin Seeds and a dash of Chilli. They also have Eggs Benedict with a choice of Smoked Salmon or Smoked Streaky Bacon. The Spinach is substituted for Kale for an earthy flavour. They have a posh Full English Breakfast with Henson’s Sausage or you can try the Vegetarian Breakfast called The Garden with Crispy Pepper Tofu, Spiced Aubergines, Kale and more.
Green Shakshouka
We decided to share two vegetarian dishes. The Green Shakshouka with Poached Eggs on Rye was one of those. The sauce comprised of Kale, Rose Harissa, Green Tomatoes, Green Peppers with Chickpeas. This was a lightly spiced dish with lovely flavours. The other dish was Wild Mushrooms with Smoked Leeks, Spinach, Thyme, Garlic and Cream on Sourdough. This was warming, creamy and filling. I enjoyed every mouthful.

Other savoury dishes included Braised Curried Pig Belly with Apricots and Roasted Cauliflower. A Fish Finger Sarnie with Tartare Sauce. Fish Pie with White Cream, Dill and Mash. Sirloin with Fried Egg, Hollandaise and French Fries. Finish with Ricotta Pancakes, Bread and Butter Croissant Pudding or a selection of British Cheeses with Quince Jelly and Crackers. They also serve Pastries, Fruit with Yoghurt and Nibbles. Egg Dishes cost £8.50-10, Savoury Dishes £7.50-17 and Desserts £5-10.50. The cocktail list is impressive so make sure you take a look at that. They stock Little Bird Gin and the wine selection is from the Alliance Wine Company.

I thought the interiors were pretty. The natural wood parquet floor, bistro chairs and shabby chic furniture assortment. There is a wood panelled bar towards the front with a selection of wooden stools to perch on. This faces a bare brick wall. Towards the back there is a large table with cushion seating and tropical wallpaper backdrop. There are a few tables and chairs outside which is handy for a sunny London day.

Current opening times listed are Thursday to Sunday Brunch and Lunch 10am-4pm. Tuesday to Saturday 6-11pm dinner. They are also open Thursday to Saturday from 4-6pm in between Brunch and Dinner. Seemed to be frequented with parents and kids on our visit so if you have kids, this might be a place for you.
