Tavolino Italian Restaurant London Bridge

We were pleased that the Tavolino Italian Restaurant at More London Riverside (London Bridge City) near Tower Bridge is now open. There are plenty of seats outside, so you get a fantastic view of Tower Bridge and City Hall. Across the River Thames are the Tower of London and the City of London skyscrapers to admire. The food is delicious; especially the desserts so save some room for those. If you are looking for London restaurants with a view, Italian restaurants near London Bridge Station or places to eat near Tower Bridge, try the Tavolino Italian Restaurant.

Tavolino Italian Restaurant Menu

The food focus is on simple dishes using high-quality ingredients from Italy and the UK. Everything is handmade, including the pasta, pizza, bread and ice cream. Homeboy and I treated ourselves to midweek lunch at Tavolino and loved the menu so much that we went for three courses. We started with Caprese D.O.P Buffalo Mozzarella with Tomatoes and Basil which was yummy.

The Cantaloupe Melon Salad with Swiss Chard, Caper Leaves, Black Olive and Pine Nuts was delightful. Other starters included Devon Crab with Potato and Ricotta Salad and Crispy Panelle with Lardo, Smoked Duck Breast and Whipped Anchovy.

The crispy, hand-stretched, sourdough base pizzas (Marinara, Margherita, Calabrese, etc.) sounded tempting, but we both fancied pasta mostly because it was freshly made. Homeboy tucked into the Sicilian Red Prawn Bucatini with Datterini Tomatoes. He said it was excellent; unfortunately, I couldn’t try it because I don’t eat seafood.

I decided on the Silk Handkerchiefs with Walnut Butter, but I asked them to omit the Confit Burford Brown Yolk because I’m not too fond of runny eggs. Wow, I loved this dish; it tasted beautiful. Homeboy helped himself to a mouthful of my pasta which I wasn’t too happy about! Other pasta dishes include Tagliatelle with Spicy Nduja and Pork Ragu and Pancetta with Ricotta Mezzaluna Ravioli and Watercress.

If you don’t fancy pizza or pasta, you can try Chicken Breast, Pan-Seared Hake or Saddle of Lamb. Add a side of Zucchini Fritti which are fantastic, Roast Potatoes, Charred Hispi Cabbage or a simple Rocket with Datterini Tomatoes.

Tiramisu

I was so glad that we shared two desserts. We were full, but they sounded so tempting. I saw a lady on another table enjoying a Tiramisu, and it looked so lovely that I just had to get one. The Tiramisu didn’t disappoint, and it was one of the best I’d ever tasted. The Amalfi Lemon Meringue was excellent. It was a dome of meringue with a small scoop of sharp-tasting lemon sorbet on top. I’ve been dreaming about both ever since. Next time I’d love to try the Balsamic Chocolate Mousse and the Polenta Skillet Cake with Cherries plus Caramelised White Chocolate Ice Cream. This dessert serves two, and you need to allow fifteen minutes so order it early! Other desserts are ice Creams and Sorbets.

The cocktail list sounds great so treat yourself a Limone Frizzante or Garden Bellini while you view the menu. The starters cost £6-15, pizzas are £9-15, pasta is £9-18, other dishes are £14-29 and desserts cost £6.50-15.50. We paid approximately £80 for two starters, two kinds of pasta, the Zucchini Fritti and two desserts with a bottle of still water. It was pricey for lunch, but considering how much we ate, the standard of food, professional service and that view, it was worth every penny.
