My Favourite Ten Things To Do In West Hampstead
1. Stop by Wired Co for speciality coffee and pastries. This cool neighbourhood café at 194 Broadhurst Gardens is known for flaky pastries and good coffee. I treated myself to the baked blackberry and custard Danish with a latte while exploring the area.
2. Head to Roni’s for a classic neighbourhood breakfast. Located at 248 West End Lane, this long-standing local favourite serves bagels, hearty breakfasts and Middle Eastern-inspired dishes. I stopped in for carrot juice with a cream cheese bagel before wandering along West End Lane.
3. Brunch at Have An Avo Atelier for healthy dishes and fresh juices. Found at 218 West End Lane, this modern brunch spot focuses on wellness-inspired food alongside speciality coffee. I ordered smashed avocado on sourdough with the refreshing Yellow Submarine juice during my visit.
4. Visit the West Hampstead Farmers’ Market for local produce. Held every Saturday from 10 am until 2 pm outside West Hampstead Thameslink Station on Iverson Road, the market attracts a strong local crowd. You’ll find artisan produce, baked goods and seasonal ingredients from independent traders.
5. Pick up deli treats and pastries from Grocery Post. Located at 280 West End Lane, this neighbourhood deli and coffee shop is known for St John Bakery pastries and seasonal salads. It is one of those local food spots that gives the area a strong sense of community.
6. Browse West End Lane for independent shops and cafés. The area’s main high street is lined with bakeries, delis, cafés and neighbourhood businesses. It still feels genuinely local and residential rather than overly commercialised or touristy.
7. Relax at Fortune Green and enjoy the open space. Located on Fortune Green Road, this popular local park has open lawns, tennis courts and a wildlife garden for residents and visitors. It gives West Hampstead a quieter, more residential atmosphere, away from the busy roads.
8. Step inside the Freud Museum and see Freud’s famous couch. Located at 20 Maresfield Gardens, the museum is housed in Sigmund Freud’s former London home. I especially enjoyed visiting because I studied Freud during my psychology A Level.
9. Book a date night dinner at a cosy neighbourhood restaurant. Takagiya at 102 Fortune Green Road serves refined Japanese Kappou dishes directly from the pan in an intimate setting. Nearby French Society at 77 Mill Lane offers chic Parisian-style dining in elegant surroundings.
10. Sip cocktails at Bobby Fitzpatrick in retro surroundings. Located at 273 West End Lane, this playful cocktail bar has colourful interiors and creative drinks. With jazz and DJ nights, pizza with a pint and party booking, this is the place to be.
