It’s no longer a market, but back in 1312, you could buy poultry, game and meat on the site. Today you can enjoy drinking, eating and shopping in a beautiful setting with red and green painted building facades, cobbled streets and overhead cover shielding you from the elements. Leadenhall attracts city workers due to its location but is also a lovely place to explore if you’re visiting London. 1. Enjoy a drink after work with colleagues at one of the many pubs or bars. Drinking holes include the New Moon, Old Tom’s Bar and The Lamb Tavern with dining rooms.
2. Wind up at one of the wine bars for a toast or two. Check out Bedales, Brokers Wine Bar or Planet of the Grapes.
3. Buy speciality wine, premium spirits, craft beers and other expensive bottles of drink at Amathus.
4. Sample artisan cheese with wine or port at Cheese. Nibble a platter of British or European varieties as you relax and unwind after a hard day in the office.
5. Try some of the best jamón Pata Negra, along with Iberico charcuterie at Viandas.
6. Entertain your clients with lunch or dinner at Chamberlains of London (fish), Locke Fyne (fish), Giorgio (Italian), Osteria del Mercato (Italian), Rocca (Italian), Luc’s Brassiere (French) and La Vina (Spanish).
7. Grab something tasty for lunch if you work in the vicinity. My favourite is Pilpel, the falafel and hummus bar. Other options include Bibimbap (Korean), Sushi Gourmet (Japanese) and Tortilla (Mexican).

9. Buy yourself something to wear from one of the fashion stores, including Hobbs, Reiss and Barbour. Go to Hawkes and Wainer for eyewear and Beau Gems for watches or jewellery. Browse Flying Tiger Copenhagen, the Danish design store for home accessories, arts and crafts and other stuff you never knew you needed until you saw how cute it is! I always pop in and buy something!
10. Treat yourself to a beauty treatment. At Chequers Beauty Salon, you can book waxing, eyebrow and lash tints, and laser hair removal; there is also a men’s barber. Askinology is a beauty clinic offering facials, Botox, dermal fillers, etc.
