Howdy, I know that this may sound a bit odd, but we had a great vegetarian meal at Texas Joe’s. The restaurant is famous for its BBQ slow-smoked meats. They are not known for feeding vegetarians, but they are darn good at it. That’s if you want to eat comfort food like tacos, cornbread, fries and mac and cheese. I’ll share the meat menu with you, but I will focus on the veggie options as we tried every dish. If you are looking for BBQ restaurants or the best places to eat near London Bridge, check out this joint. It’s enough to make you shout yeehaw!!!
“Texas Joe’s is a fantastic BBQ restaurant near London Bridge. They are known for their brisket, short ribs and pork shoulder, but the vegetarian tacos, cornbread and mac and cheese are also excellent,” Homegirl London
Texas Joe’s Menu
If you love meat, you can feast on the barbecue meats, which comes on a tin tray with slaw, pickles, and sauce. Choose from Beef Brisket, Beef Short Ribs, Pork Shoulder, Pork Ribs or Mutton Shoulder. Chicken Breast on the Bone, Chicken Thighs and Jumbo Chicken Wings are also available.
BBQ Meats and More
We tried the Veggie Taco, which was super tasty with Panko Crumb Smoked Celeriac and Pickled Shimeji Mushrooms, along with Korean Hot Sauce. Chicken Mole with Smoked Yoghurt, Pickled Cabbage and Almonds is the other Taco option.
Very Good Veggie Taco
The side dishes are well worth investigating. We tried the Mac and Cheese, which is always the perfect cheese to macaroni ratio. A Chilli Mac is also available if you want to spice things up.
Comforting Mac and Cheese
We are big fans of cornbread, so we ordered the Jalapeño Cornbread and smeared it over the Chilli Butter. Of course, we ordered the Fries, which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Fabulous Fries
The Burnt Baby Gem Salad was delicious, and it had a few roasted chillis and onions in it and a lot of dressing. We needed this bit of greenery to offset the carbs!
Burnt Baby Gem Salad
There are usually a couple of specials that your server will communicate to you. We were lucky that the Corn on The Cob with Chilli Butter. We thoroughly enjoyed munching the corn, it was juicy, and there was a lot of finger-licking and face wiping going on.
Corn on the Cob Special
To give you an idea of prices, the BBQ Meats cost £12-22, and Tacos are £10 and Sides are £4-10. They usually have a dessert available so ask about that if you need more food, which I doubt you will because the portions are substantial. Beers, Cocktails, Wine, Mezcal, Bourbon and Soda Pops are available.

Texas Joe’s Restaurant
For more information, go to the Texas Joe’s Website. The restaurant address is 6-8 Snowfields, London SE1 3SU, a short walk from London Bridge Station. The usual opening hours are Tuesday until Friday from 5 pm until 10 pm and Saturday from 12 pm until 10 pm. There is an option to pick up food to go or have it delivered. We sat on the outside seats with overhead umbrellas. The restaurant has a rustic interior with an open kitchen towards the back.
Flying Saloon
Next door is the Flying Saloon serving cocktails, craft beer on draft and Texan Whiskies. It’s the perfect place to feast on BBQ with your friends where you can yarn the hours away (that’s a cowboy saying apparently!) and drink bourbon. It’s a good idea to book a table to avoid disappointment.
