The Marlborough Pub Richmond Hill Surrey TW10

The Marlborough Pub, Richmond Hill, Surrey TW10, is perfect for Sunday lunch with your family, friends and pooch. Now that we’re proud puppy parents, we are dining at dog-friendly establishments. When our neighbours suggested a trip on the train to Richmond for a pub lunch, we immediately said yes. If you’re looking for the best roast in Richmond, places near London for Sunday lunch or pubs with food in TW10, you’ll appreciate The Marlborough Pub.

“A sprawling pub with a large garden serving British pub grub using seasonal ingredients to satisfy your Sunday lunch cravings with giant Yorkshire puds and a great vegan option, so thanks for that!” Homegirl London.

If you’re hungry or waiting for guests to arrive, you can order a Bowl of Giaraffa Olives or the Caramelised Onion Hummus with Chilli Oil and Toasted Bread. We tried both, which did the trick and bridged the gap between the Mains. Other starters include Mushroom and Leek Soup, Pork and Beauvale Blue Sausage Roll and Somerset Camembert with Sourdough.

The star attraction is the Sunday Roasts; all served with giant Yorkshire Puds, Roasted Potatoes, Maple Glazed Heritage Carrots, Buttered Cavolo Nero and Parsnip Mash. Choose from Roast Striploin of Beef, Roast Pork Belly or Garlic and Thyme Half Roast Chicken.

We were dining with a party of seven, and most chose the Beef, of which there were no complaints. Not being a meat eater, I opted for the Vegan Mushroom, Butternut Squash and Spinach Wellington. They had undoubtedly tried to provide a decent alternative to meat or chicken. It was pretty good, I must say. To keep it vegan, you can say no to the Yorkshire Pudding.

If Roasts aren’t your thing, the Mains include a Beef Burger or Plant Burger with Fries. Another vegan option was the Roasted Artichoke Salad. My partner opted for the Beer Battered Fish and Triple Cooked Chips with Mushy Peas, Lemon Wedge and Tartare Sauce. He said the Batter was top-notch, and I can vouch for the Chips! It was a big piece of fish, so value for money.

Being full after the meal, I was in two minds as to whether to try a dessert, but pub puds are always the best. I decided to push the boat out and shared the Sticky Toffee Pudding and Chocolate Tart with my partner. Most of the group selected the Sticky Toffee, while one person tried the Passion Fruit Crème Brulé, which looked amazing.

I thought the prices were reasonable considering the size and quality of the meal. Starters cost £5-16, Roasts are £18-21, other Mains are £14-17, while Puddings are £7. Drinks include everything from Sparkling Wine to Craft Beer.

Our puppy seemed to feel comfortable at the pub and even had a snooze. She gave a little bark to a few bigger dogs, but that’s a little phase she’s going through!

I wandered back to see the garden, which would be lovely when the summer arrived. This pub has different parts, including dining areas and cosy snugs with chesterfield sofas and armchairs. It’s ideal for lunch with family or friends, including kids and dogs.
