Yan Ji is a Korean BBQ Restaurant on Bethnal Green Road, London E2. You’ll find booth seating inside, and downstairs they have two private dining rooms. We sat outside on the pavement to soak up the sun and buzzy atmosphere of the street. It’s a fun restaurant because you can barbecue your skewers at the table. We tried the vegan and vegetarian options, which were all excellent. If you’re looking for Korean Restaurants near Brick Lane, the best restaurants on Bethnal Green Road or places to eat Korean BBQ, you’ll love Yan Ji.
“Yan Ji is a small Korean BBQ restaurant near Shoreditch High Street station. It’s a great place to meet a group of friends where you can barbecue tasty skewers at your table,” Homegirl London.
Yan Ji Korean BBQ Restaurant Menu
Starters include Chicken, Prawn and Vegetable Dumplings. We sampled the Veggie Dumplings, which were delicious. Korean Fried Chicken and Spicy Squid are non-veg starter options.
I love Kimchi Pancakes, and the ones at Yan Ji are incredible and super tasty without being too overpowering or greasy. They also have Seafood Pancakes, should you prefer those instead.
My partner loves Kimchi, so he ordered a plate of fermented cabbage for himself. He said it was exceptional, so that’s high praise indeed. You may also like the Cucumber Kimchi and Kimchi Fried Rice.
BBQ Skewers are the main attraction. You can BBQ the skewers yourself at your table, which is fun. Skewer options include Chicken, Pork Belly, Pig Intestine, Squid, King Prawn, Quail Egg and more. If you’re with a group of friends, you may like to try the BBQ Specials of ten Lamb or Beef Skewers. Other BBQ meals are thin slices of marinated Beef, Spicy Pork and Short Beef Ribs.
We chose the Enoki Mushroom under the BBQ Skewer section, which I recommend. However, the mushrooms weren’t on a skewer, but we were sitting outside with no grill at our table, so maybe they cooked them for us? We also had the Sweet Corn, which was presented as though out of a tin and didn’t have a barbecue taste. The sweet corn was the only disappointing part of the meal.
If you’re not in the mood for Skewers, you’ll probably enjoy a Bibimbap, a traditional rice pot with beautifully arranged, colourful toppings and stir in chilli sauce. We shared the Vegetarian Bibimbap minus the Tofu. Other options are Beef, Pork, Chicken, Seafood and Tofu. Udon with Beef, Chicken or Tofu, and Spicy Soups are also on the menu.
To give you an idea of prices, Starters and Sides cost £4.97-11, two BBQ Skewers cost £3.75-5.30, 10 BBQ Special Skewers are £20.35-22, and Bibimbap is £11.55-13.20.
