Finds: porcelain animal sculptures

Homegirl London finds an intriguing collection of porcelain animal sculptures inspired by the Victoria era.  There are 4 animals in the range; Owl, Hare, Bear and Fox which have been hand crafted by casting the figures in a porcelain slip and then finishing off the finer details by hand.  These measure 15cm x 7cm and are all priced at £120.  They are made by Sophie Woodrow and you can buy from Heal’s. Sophie Woodrow is fascinated with the Victorians and their idolisation of nature which is clearly reflected in her work. Sophie was drawn to working with clay form an early age and attended Falmouth College of Art where she studied Studio Ceramics.  She has gone on to sculpt a curious collection of objects which would work well in a contemporary or period interior.  I’ve seen these pieces in the Heal’s store and believe me they are stunning.  Credits: text by Homegirl London, images courtesy of Heal’s.
