I stopped for lunch at Allpress Espresso Roastery and Cafe, Dalston Lane, London E8, on my way to a beauty appointment. With excellent Coffee, Mixed Boards, Toasted Sandwiches, Croissants and Cakes, it’s a great place to hang out. Remember to take your MacBook; otherwise, you’ll look out of place! If you’re searching for the best coffee in Dalston, cafes near Dalston Junction Station or you fancy lunch in London E8, you’ll be happy at Allpress.
“Allpress serves the best Coffee and tasty food, making this Cafe a must-visit place in Dalston,” Homegirl London.
Allpress Coffee and Food Menu
As this is a Roastery, I’ll start with the coffee. It’s as good as it gets and doesn’t get much fresher because they roast the beans on the premises. The sweet, balanced and complex Espresso Blend is a pleasure to taste. Whether you want a Long Black, Macchiato, Cortado, Piccolo, Flat White, Latte, Cappuccino or Mocha, it will be perfection. You have Michael Appress to thank for roasting coffee in his Auckland garage to supply cafes back in 1989.
In the morning, you’ll probably want a Plain or Almond Croissant or perhaps a Pain au Chocolate. Or maybe Granola with Fruit and Yogurt, Sourdough with Jam, Boiled Egg and Soldiers or Avocado on Toast is more your thing. Whatever you choose, one thing is sure; it will be delicious.
I treated myself to a delectable Vegan Plate, which I can highly recommend. With Harissa Puy Lentils, Pickled Beetroot, Almond Ricotta, Confit of Tomatoes, Focaccia and Toasted Sourdough, it was exceptional, worthy of a top-notch restaurant. Other Mixed Plates include Classic with Avocado, Tomato, Provolone Cheese and Boiled Egg with an option to add Prosciutto. The third Mixed Plate is Smoked Salmon, Goats Curd, Avocado, Tomato, Radish and Dill Pickle. Alternatively, you can order a Sandwich. Fillings include Green Goddess, Cheese and Chive, Pumpkin with Leeks, and Salmon with Beetroot or Salt Beef.
It would be rude not to try the moist Orange and Almond Cake in the afternoon. Lemon-infused Cake with Olive Oil and Thyme, Sea Salt Brownie or Maple and Pecan Shortbread are also waiting to tempt you.
To give you an idea of prices, Espresso is £3, Latte £3.50, Mixed Plates £10-13.50, Sandwiches 7.50-8.50, Croissants are £2.60-2.80, and Cakes are £3-3.80. They also have soft drinks like House Made Lemonade.
