Artusi Italian Restaurant Bellenden Road Menu
You’ll find a sample menu on the website; however, it does change regularly, so it’s likely to be different on your visit. We ate lunch there, and everything was super tasty, thanks to the freshly made pasta and premium ingredients. The menu had three starters, three mains and two desserts which should have vegetarian options.
We shared the Courgette Trifolate with Saffron Aoli and Smoked Almonds. I’d never had this before, so I had to Google what Trifolate was and discovered it’s a way of preparing and cooking vegetables with garlic, olive oil and parsley. It was rustic and rather delicious; if I saw it on a menu again, I’d order it. The other starters were Ham Hock Terrine, Beetroot with Burnt Apple, and Sun Sweet Melon with San Daniele.
For my main dish, I chose the Casarecce (short pasta with curled edges and a groove down the middle) with Girolles (mushrooms), Confit Garlic and an option to have an Egg Yolk. I declined the egg yolk because I prefer my eggs well done. I am, however, a fan of girolles mushrooms and adore the delicate peppery taste.
Meanwhile, my partner was content with his Spaghetti, Mussels, Parsley and Breadcrumbs. The pasta dish looked attractive and smelt wonderful. The third option was Hake with Coco De Paimpol, Hen of the Wood and Fine Beans.
We were happy to have room left to try the dreamy desserts. We shared the Torta di Caprese with Strawberries and Chantilly. Torta di Caprese is an Italian cake made with chocolate, almonds, or hazelnuts. It was moist and memorable. Give me anything with Chantilly cream, and I’m happy! We also added the Fig Leaf Ice Cream, it was a tad melted when it reached our table but tasted amazing, so I didn’t mind.
The starters cost £9-11. Mains are £16-25 with the option for a smaller portion. Desserts are priced at £4.5-7. Try one of the Italian varieties if you fancy a glass of wine.
