On a whim, we decided to jump on a bus and head to Noko, an Asian street food restaurant and bar in Camberwell, London SE5. Our lunch was amazing, full of flavour and well-presented. It’s a lovely, cosy eatery where you can try a selection of dumplings, skewers, fried chicken and noodle dishes. I can’t wait to return for more! If you’re looking for the best places for lunch in Camberwell, noodles in SE5 or a date night dinner on Camberwell Church Street, Noko is the place for you.
“Endearing little lunch and dinner spot on the best street in Camberwell serving up Asian street food with an emphasis of cooking over fire,” Homegirl London.
Noko Asian Street Food Menu
Begin your feast with an array of starters, like the refreshing smacked cucumber, ideal for vegans and vegetarians. Carnivores might gravitate towards the ‘secret beef’, a harmonious blend of beef slices, coriander, peanuts and their secret homemade dressing. Or the irresistible ‘saliva chicken’ adorned with peanuts, a sesame sauce, and a zing of chilli oil might entice.
Seafood enthusiasts are in for a treat with the zesty salt and pepper prawns or the chilli calamari, which my partner highly recommends as a fiery delight. Starters are priced at a reasonable £5-8.80.
I couldn’t get enough of their vegan mock dumplings combined with a delicate, crispy batter-type crust. Other options include prawn or pork, with prices ranging from £6.80-7.80.
We loved the broccoli with tahini skewers and wished we had tried more options like the green beans, spicy cabbage and king oyster mushrooms, but that’s a good reason to return. Meat lovers are included with beef tenderloin, lamb shoulder, and Iberico pork belly, ranging from £5-8.
As for mains, my eggplant noodles with Szechuan broad bean paste, soy, garlic and spring onions were incredible. This dish has lingered in my mind with its unparalleled flavour and perfectly cooked aubergines. The noodle dishes, including the beef brisket and dan dan noodles, are priced at £9.80-13.80.
My partner sampled the sake seabass, which stood out for its quality and value. We don’t eat meat or poultry, but I’m assured that the fried chicken options with sauces ranging from gochujang to Szechuan, and homemade piri piri are excellent. Expect to pay between £9.80-13.80 for these.
