One weekend, I had a beautiful breakfast at The Locals in Chelsea, London, SW1. You’ll find this relaxed, health-conscious café tucked behind the Thames at Grosvenor Waterside, just a short walk from Chelsea Bridge and opposite Battersea Park. I stopped by with a friend before heading to RHS Chelsea to take photos of a show garden ahead of its official opening. It’s a tranquil spot near the water with outdoor seating and a fabulous morning menu featuring all your favourites. If you’re looking for the best breakfast near Chelsea Bridge or a brunch hangout not far from Ebury Road, The Locals Chelsea is well worth a visit.
“The Locals is a tranquil neighbourhood breakfast and brunch spot where you can enjoy classics to more indulgent options, a great start to your day,” Homegirl London.
The Locals Chelsea Breakfast And Brunch Menu
Egg lovers are spoilt for choice here. The menu includes classics such as eggs Benedict, Royale, and Turkish eggs, along with more indulgent versions like lobster Benedict and braised ox cheek Benedict. You can order rich yolk eggs poached or fried, folded with mushrooms, feta or chorizo, or go for a full plate. My friend opted for poached eggs with sausage and homemade beans, served with sourdough, and savoured every mouthful.
Meanwhile, I chose the vegetarian breakfast, which was delicious and enormous, brimming with fried eggs (well done as requested), grilled halloumi, avocado, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and sourdough. It looked fantastic and tasted even better. The meaty version is equally generous, featuring chicken sausage, bacon, homemade beans and a choice of egg styles. Lighter versions of both are available, featuring ingredients such as mixed-leaf salad and rye bread. These larger breakfasts range from £17.50 to £19.50.
Non-egg savoury options include flatbreads topped with Parma ham or whipped feta, crispy sweet potato pancakes with smashed avocado and hollandaise, and generous salads packed with omega seeds, greens and avocado. These dishes are priced between £10.50 and £15.50.
For something sweet, try the matcha pancakes with coconut yoghurt and berry coulis or the buttermilk stack with toppings like Nutella or maple caramel. You should also check out the cakes and muffins on display, which look amazing. If you’re after something lighter, the acai bowl with fruit and gluten-free granola is a colourful, refreshing choice. Sweet dishes cost £12.90 to £15.50.
The drinks menu is extensive. I had a well-made latte while my friend went for a pot of English breakfast tea. You’ll find a complete selection of coffees, organic teas, fresh juices, smoothies, and iced options, including matcha and chai. There are cold-pressed juices and healthy shots, or for something more indulgent, mochas, rose lattes and homemade flavoured lemonades. A small bar menu also features cocktails, mocktails and natural wines.
