Bicycle jewellery gives discarded bike chains renewed life

As our love for cycling continues, there’s been an increase in bicycle jewellery.  This isn’t a surprise when you think about all those discarded bike chains out there.  These are being recycled by jewellery designers combine their skills with their love of bikes.  There are plenty of unique necklaces for women along with drop earrings plus bracelets for men and cufflinks for men.  Some are left in their natural colour whilst others have been painted.  I’ve scoured Etsy to bring you a selection of handmade and totally unique bicycle jewellery.  If you’re looking for something like a cool tie clip, then check out these recycled jewellery pieces!

Bicycle Jewellery For Women

Katie Wallace, of Katie’s Bike, has been making jewellery since the age of seven.  She also loves to ride her bike and in 2013 she realised she could combine her two loves.  She now makes an interesting collection of jewellery from bike chains which she sources from London workshops.  After cleaning and polishing, she re-assembles them to make rings, cufflinks, earrings, bracelets and necklaces.  Here are some rings she’s handmade from silver chains.  These have been painted in a wide selection of colours but if you can’t find what you’re looking for she’s happy to make you something bespoke – £20.

Maribeth uses parts from BMX bikes for her jewellery business Beach BMX Designs.  This stems from her husband and three sons who all love to race BMX bikes.  She combined this with her love of recycling and making jewellery to put all those spare bike parts to good use.  All her designs are custom made so will be totally unique.  To give you an idea of her work I’ve selected one of her Green and Silver Bike Chain Bracelet.  You can buy these in a range of colours and in different lengths – £7.21 starting price.
