Restaurant Review: Blixen Restaurant. It was my birthday last weekend, so we booked Blixen Restaurant for brunch. If you’re looking for weekend brunch in E1, places to eat near Old Spitalfields Market or a bar near Liverpool Street Station, this place is ideal.

Blixen Restaurant Weekend Brunch Menu
Homeboy and I ate our way through the brunch menu which was delicious. With a fabulous selection for fish, meat and vegetarians, everyone is kept happy. Homeboy ordered a snack of Smoked Haddock Croquettes with a dash of wasabi mayo which he enjoyed. Meanwhile, I devoured my Burrata which had a sprinkling of toasted hazelnuts and Sharon fruit with two shards of crisp bread. Other sharing snacks and starters included Chorizo Bites, Braised Rabbit Pastry, Chicken Liver and Carrot Soup.
Smoked Haddock Croquettes
We shared two mains, starting with the Potato Rosti with a generous helping of spinach and two poached eggs with a tasty truffled cheddar cream on top. Other dishes included Smoked Trout, House Smoked Whole Mackerel, Pulled Pork Crumpet, Cumbrian Beef Burger, Chickpea and Celeriac Cake, plus more.
The other main we ordered was a sweet treat of French Toast with banana, honey and whipped mascarpone. This was heavenly, thanks to the cinnamon. They also have a list of puddings which featured Chocolate Mousse, Sticky Toffee, Pear and Almond Tart plus a few others.
Treat yourself to a cocktail while you are there. Bloody Mary, Anytime Spritz, Ray Catcher are a few listed. They also have house sodas, fresh juices and of course coffee! To give you an idea of prices, the sharing snacks and starters are £3 for Mixed Herb Olives and Smoked Almonds and up to £9 for the Burrata. Main plates are £11-15.50, sides £3-4 and desserts are £7-8.50.
Blixen Restaurant and Bar Interiors
The interiors are wonderful. They have a conservatory area with lush green plants which gives you a relaxed vibe so you can pretend you’re on holiday. The other dining space has a grand café feel with a wooden ceiling, dark walls with bursts of greenery. It’s comfy and cosy so you can have a romantic brunch with your lover or lunch with a group of friends. You can sit outside on a balmy sunny day and watch the world go by. There is a stunning bar in the main dining space which is stocked to the gills with every drink you could possibly want to try. Downstairs is a subterranean bar area which is dark as there aren’t any windows so it’s the perfect drinking den! This bar is in partnership with Max and Noel Venning (Three Sheets in Dalston) who create complex and carefully crafted cocktails … Cheers!
