I recently enjoyed a memorable breakfast with a friend at Norman’s Cafe, Archway, London N19. This quaint establishment is an utterly charming modern interpretation of a traditional café with outstanding food. The staff’s friendliness makes it an exceptionally welcoming spot, possibly the most inviting I’ve experienced this year. You’ll love Norman’s Cafe if you want greasy spoon grub without the grease and quality ingredients. It’s perfect for breakfasts near Archway or lunch on Junction Road.
“Norman’s is a homage to traditional British Cafes where the nostalgic food has been elevated, enticing you back for more,” Homegirl London.
Norma’s Cafe Menu
Norman’s Cafe offers a variety of tempting all day breakfast options and more. The menu features sets that come with tea or coffee. Set 1 includes toast, sausage, two eggs, bacon beans, and a hash brown. I went for Set 2, the vegetarian option. It was brimming with bubble and squeak, egg, hash brown, grilled tomato, and beans. Breakfast sets are around £12.50.
I also ordered a side of chips; when my breakfast arrived, I realised I had three types of potatoes to eat: the chips, bubble and squeak and a hash brown. At first, I thought I’d made a mistake, but then I gave myself a pat on the back because the bubble and squeak was the best I’ve ever tasted, super creamy and top-notch. The chips were also excellent, so ordering triple potatoes worked out well!
Set 3 includes sausage, chips, and beans, which my dining guest ordered. He said the sausages were excellent. We both agreed that even the beans tasted better than usual. You may want to add sides like black pudding, bacon or grilled onions.
Additional offerings include an English muffin with bubble and squeak, egg, cheddar and brown sauce or sausage with red Leicester and brown sauce. Lighter options like beans on toast with red Leicester cheese, sausage bap, bacon butty, chip butty and Welsh rarebit are also available. The menu also features chicken escalope or cheeseburger with chips.
During our visit, the classic dessert special was rice pudding with jam. I would have loved to try it, but it was too full. The drinks include tea, coffee and some alcohol like Bloody Marys.
