A friend visited us for lunch, so we explored Fleurie on Bermondsey Street, London SE1. This charming French-style brasserie offers seasonal small plates, a prix fixe menu, cocktails and French wines. It’s a delightful spot to spend time with loved ones or friends, catching up over a glass of wine and sharing delicious small plates like burrata or chicken chasseur. If you’re searching for lunch spots on Bermondsey Street or French brasseries near London Bridge, you’ll adore Fleurie.

Fleurie Small Plates Menu
Start with a few nibbles like mixed olives, truffle and pecorino nuts, wasabi peas, or bread and butter, costing £3-4.
We dove straight into the small plates. My partner and I shared the exciting vegetarian options. The ras el hanout roasted cauliflower on a bed of whipped tofu, enhanced with chimichurri and punchy pomegranate, was a highlight. Although I’m not a fan of tofu, my partner enjoyed it thoroughly while I scooped most of the cauliflower.
The butter bean dip was a hit, with a smooth and silky texture, complemented by French beans, harissa and a sprinkling of almonds.
I always love creamy burrata di Puglia, and this one, paired with datterino tomatoes and pecorino nut-free pesto, was a joy.
The vibrant purple Vitelotte potatoes brightened up the table, and with a side of truffle mayo and confit garlic, they were elevated to a supreme position.
Those preferring non-vegetarian dishes can consider the escargots bourguignon, beetroot-cured salmon gravadlax with micro watercress, spring Welsh lamb with pea purée, chicken chasseur, or beef tartare with beetroot. Small plates cost £13-20, and they are a decent size, meaning we were stuffed. Check the prix fixe lunch menu for more carnivore options; our friend ordered the roasted chicken with French beans and jus, which he polished off in no time.
For dessert, there were two options: gooseberry fool and milk chocolate mousse with berries. We chose the latter, the perfect ending to a lovely lunch. Desserts cost £10, and they also offer a French cheese plate for £20.
As it was lunchtime and we had work to do, none of us indulged in alcohol. The cocktail menu includes French martini, kir royal, and other tempting choices. Of course, there are also excellent French wines and a few mocktails.
