My List of Electrical Jobs
My main job for David put his electrical and odd job skills to the test. I wanted to get a flat-screen TV wall mounted in the guest bedroom. Fixing the bracket to the wall was a straightforward job. However, the nearest power source was at the other end of the wall. Therefore, I needed an electrical socket behind the TV so I could plug it in. I had two options: I could have the electrical cable chased into the wall or white trunking to cover the wire. I decided on the latter because I didn’t want to have to decorate the wall at this stage. I can always get the cable chased into the wall a few years later when that room needs repainting. My main objective was to get the TV hung on the wall and a power source behind it.

David had already visited my apartment to undertake a site visit. We agreed that David should purchase the trunking for the cables, which he did. He discussed how the trunking would look and how he could best disguise it and fill any gaps. I was pleased with the result. I now have a TV in the spare room to make my mum and other guests happy.

The other main electrical job was replacing two hallway wall lights. We had a complete refurbishment when we moved into the apartment two years ago. I didn’t want to splash out on expensive wall lights at the time because I was trying to reign in my budget. I’d been thinking about buying the Anglepoise Original 1227 Wall Lights for some time, so I decided to take action. I showed David the light bulbs I had bought for these wall lights, but he explained they were wrong and advised me on the correct ones I needed. That was super helpful because matching your light switch with the lights you have and the bulbs you need is a bit more confusing than you’d imagine! Anyway, I now have the new wall lights hung with the correct bulbs, which look fantastic! I’m glad I upgraded these because it was worth the effort.

The final job was to replace the shaving socket in the ensuite bathroom. The socket was installed when the ensuite was refurbished but never worked, so I had to go to the other bathroom to charge my toothbrush. I purchased a replacement, and David had this sorted out quickly. I’m delighted that it now works. I can clean my teeth properly with a fully charged brush.
