Homegirl London finds Frida artwork. This painting is by Angie Jones, a contemporary American artist who resides in LA after moving there to work as a movie animator. After 2 decades in the Hollywood film industry Angie wanted an outlet to satisfy her desire to create original content. She started with conceptual animation and video installations and moved to traditional paintings in 2007. I particularly love her modern abstracted interpretation of Frida Kahlo, Mexico’s most famous female artist who often painted her own portrait. Jones paints in oils on canvas to pay tribute to this magnificent woman using geometric shapes and a cascade of bold colours. The measurements are 24 x 20 x 15 inches. The price is $1000 and you can buy from Saatchi Online. Angie has painted a collection of portraits in a similar style which you can view at Saatchi Online.
