Fish Borough Market Menu
Fish! was established twenty years ago in 1999. The idea is to serve quality responsibly sourced fish and seafood with chips, mash and mushy peas. The fish and seafood are from their own fishmonger called Jarvis while other ingredients are sourced from the market.
Fish! Menu
If you want a starter you can choose something delicious like Fish Soup, Thai Fish Cakes, Classic Prawn Cocktail, Dorset Dressed Crab or Dorset Rock Oysters. If you’re on a health kick, try the Seafood Salad or Ceviche.
Fish Pie
Mum tried the Beer Battered Fish and Chips and selected the cod. Other fish options were haddock, skate wing, plaice, wild halibut, hake or fish of the day. This is served with mushy peas and a really tasty tartare sauce. Mum thoroughly enjoyed her fish and chips and she’s a bit of an expert as this is her favourite dish. If you don’t fancy battered fish, you can have it grilled or steamed with veg of the day and a choice of sauce (Hollandaise, Red Wine Gravy, Beurre Blanc, Spicy Salsa, etc). If you’d prefer a sandwich or bun try the Swordfish Club, Tuna Burger or Fish Finger Sandwich.
Vegetarian Dish
Other mains included the Classic Fish Pie which Homeboy selected and gave it the big thumbs up. If you wanted to try something amazing, the Grilled Scottish Langoustines and Whole Grilled Lobster would be a consideration. Aside from fish dishes, you can sample the Hereford Ribeye Steak, Wyndham House Spatchcock Spring Chicken or Cumberland Sausage with mash and red wine onion gravy. Add a side of Green Beans, Spinach or Buttered Samphire. I sampled the Vegetarian Dish of the Day which was very good. It was Polenta with Spinach and Poached Egg. I took a few of mum’s chips from her plate to add to my meal. Why do chips taste even better when stolen from someone else’s plate?
Dessert
We were quite full after our mains but decided to try two desserts between the three of us. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was rich with vanilla ice cream, we loved the Chocolate and Amaretto Mousse which was totally decadent. Bread and Butter Pudding, Salted Caramel Sundae and Crème Brûlée were also featured. Desserts were £9.95-9.50, Starters are £8.50-16.95, Beer Battered Fish and Chips cost £17.50-23.95, other mains are £16.95-26.95. Quite a few dishes are priced on the day depending on the market value.
