We enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Forza Win, the Italian restaurant in Camberwell, London SE5. I’d already written about ten things to do in Camberwell, and Forza Win was one of the restaurants I had made a note of checking out. If you’re looking for Italian food in Camberwell, the best restaurants in SE5 or places for lunch on Camberwell Church Street, you’ll be super happy with a meal at Forza Win.
“A relaxed restaurant where you can enjoy delicious rustic Italian dishes in the heart of Camberwell,” Homegirl London.
Forza Win Italian Menu
If you’re hungry, you may want to start with Nduja or Rosemary Sourdough Focaccia, Salame Strolghino (short-term cured salami that’s lean and tender) or Nocellara Olives (the big fat juicy green ones). Although we did want to order the Focaccia, we were trying to avoid bread, and it took some willpower to stick to our rule, but we did it. The Antipasti selection includes Italian classics like Mushroom Arancino and Tomato Panzanella. Instead of those, we opted for a side of Spinach with Garlic and Fennel, which tasted healthy and earthy.
All the mains sounded tempting, but we finally settled on the Spaghetti with Roasted Tomato Sauce and Pasta E Ceci. Thanks to the rich and thick Tomato Sauce, the Spaghetti dish was full of flavour. It was plate-licking good!
Neither of us has tried Pasta E Ceci before, and it’s a rustic peasant’s dish with pasta and chickpeas, rather like a hearty stew or soup. Because the weather was cold outside, this was the perfect dish to warm us up. The Mushroom Lasagna and Romanesco with Cauliflower were also contenders. Fish eaters may like the Hake with Jerusalem Artichokes, Chicory and Hazelnuts, while carnivores will be happy with Bavette Steak with Braised Cabbage.
One of our reasons for forgoing the Foccacia was to leave a little room for dessert. After some deliberation, we settled on the Lemon Tart, which had just been made. With the sharp yet sweet taste, it went down quickly. We also liked the sound of Chocolate Pot with Cherries. Other choices are Risotto Rice Pudding with Blood Orange or Custardo.
To give you an idea of the prices, Antipasti is £3-15, Primi £10-11, Secondi £16-28, Controi £5-6, and Dolci is £5-7. Drinks include Blood Orange Gin and Tonic, Limoncello, Amaretto, Italian Wines, and Beers.
