The Green Room Cafe has recently opened up along Stoke Newington Church Street.  It was actually a florist store and out the back now houses a bright and airy eatery.  Homeboy and I were out for a walk, spotted that it had opened so decided to pop in and investigate.  If you’re looking for places to eat in London or Stoke Newington restaurants – the Green Room Cafe is a nice place to try.

Green Room Cafe Menu

If you’re after breakfast in London you’ll find a good fry up on the menu for meat eaters with a grilled Cumberland sausage, fried free range eggs, grilled tomatoes, home-made baked beans, smoked bacon, field mushroom and a choice of bubble and squeak or toast.  The veggie option is similar but with a vegetarian sausage – which is the dish I tried.

Alternatively, you can opt for egg dishes – benedict, royale or florentine.  Bacon sandwiches and toasted sausage sandwiches are also on the menu.  For something a little sweeter try the pancakes served with slices of banana and salted caramel sauce.  There’s also porridge with dried fruit or honey.  Or you can have toast with home-made preserves.

Green Room Cafe, Quesadilla

Green Room Cafe – Quesadilla £6.95

The lunch menu at Green Room Cafe featured quesadilla with avocado, tomato and coriander, salsa and sour cream which is the dish Homeboy tried.  Linguine served with butternut squash.  Marinated chicken fillets with pesto and hand cut chips.  Homemade beef burger with tomato, red onion, lettuce and horse radish mayonnaise served with Stilton on seeded bap and hand cut chips.  Roast pepper and feta cheese tart served with sour cream.  Baby spinach salad with slow roast tomato and butternut squash crisps with grilled Halloumi and mustard dressing served with crusty bread.  You can also order soup of the day.  If you fancy afternoon tea, there’s a lovely selection of cakes.  The coffee was good.

The front half of Green Room Cafe is a florist shop.  If you head out the back you’ll find a surprisingly spacious eatery.

There’s plenty of natural light from the windows and skylights.  The tables and chairs give the place a light industrial feel.  There’s also a garden area so is a great place to hang out in the summer.
