It was a glorious day so Homeboy and I headed down to Hallys (usually spelt Hally’s) in Parsons Green. Here you can expect a brunch menu full of fresh ingredients which will change along with the seasons. The interiors are decked out like a Californian beach home so you’ll feel totally relaxed as you enjoy a leisurely meal. If you’re searching for best brunch London, best breakfast in London, Parsons Green restaurants or New Kings Road restaurants then do give Hallys a try.
This cute little eatery was opened over a year ago in June 2013. It’s owned by Anna Halliday and husband Philip Beatty who were inspired by the fresh ingredients and simple food they enjoyed on a California road trip. Wanting to bring the sunshine back to London, Anna left her advertising job and they set about opening up this restaurant. They really have achieved a taste of Californian sunshine in London. It’s the ideal spot for weekend brunch with your lover or lunch with your friend if you’re browsing the boutique stores along the New Kings Road.
Weekend brunch is served all day and features many of the breakfast and lunch options along with a few extras like corn fritters, cauliflower and aged cheddar omelette, sardines and steak sandwich. We were there for breakfast which kicks off at 8am until 11.30am. They serve Monmouth organic coffee which is always great, add slice of homemade banana bread and you’ll be smiling for the rest of the day. If you’re in the mood for healthy food go for the natural yoghurt with berries, pomegranate, honey and granola. Alternatively there’s the granny smith, agave and toasted almond porridge. I tried the ricotta pancakes with berries, fig, honey and crème fraiche which was so pretty and totally delicious.

If you fancy a cooked breakfast you can spoil yourself with the full English which comes with everything you’d expect plus homemade beans. Homeboy went for the avocado on sourdough toast with chilli, lemon, rocket and two poached eggs on the side. They also have chorizo with coriander and red onion in an omelette served with watercress and toast. Other egg dishes include scrambled or poached eggs with smoked streaky bacon on toast, eggs benedict or florentine. Or you could go for the smoked salmon on rye with cream cheese avocado, capers and lemon. Dishes range from around £6-6.50 for fruit and grains, £11 for the full English and £7.50-8.50 for the others.

Lunch is served from 12 noon through to 4pm. Start with an antipasti board to share for £12. There’s a soup of the day and smashed avocado with feta, ricotta, mint and lemon or chargrilled field mushrooms on sourdough which cost £5.50-6.50. Mains feature homemade beef burger in a brioche bun served with bacon and fries, salmon fish cakes, hot smoked salmon plus salads. Mains cost around £8.50-11. They also have plenty of cakes if you fancy a slice with a nice cup of tea and they serve alcohol if you’re in the mood for a bloody mary.
The derelict cocktail bar just around the corner from Parsons Green was the ideal spot for the business for Anna and Philips venture. They stripped the entire interior before remodelling with a Californian beach house vibe. The space is bright and airy thanks to the ceiling to floor glass doors which are pulled back (weather permitting) so you can connect with the world outside. The first half of the ground floor features white washed walls and wooden flooring. There are a couple of communal tables along with seating for two with wooden bistro style chairs which have been dipped in pastel coloured paint. Here you’ll find a bar counter which has been clad in reclaimed wood. If you want to enjoy a coffee and pastry solo just perch on of the bright yellow metal stools. Do take time to look around at the delightful decorative objects filling the shelves which will give you some ideas for your own home.

At the back you’ll find a nice comfy seating arrangement with throw cushions. In this area the walls are clad with reclaimed white washed timber so you really do feel as though you are lounging around in a beach home. Head downstairs to the toilets which are rather nice.

If it’s a lovely hot day in the capital do head down to this lovely little eatery. While we were there we noticed quite a few people coming in with dogs who were given a big bowl of water to lap up. So it’s also a great place to visit if you’re out walking your pooch in the Fulham area.
