With the Tour de France on the horizon and our love for cycling mounting by the moment it’s no wonder that bikes are appearing on a vast array of home accessories. If you live in the UK you might be excited to know that the Tour de France event actually kicks off on 5 July 2014 from Leeds. If you’re not a cycling fanatic you can still enjoy the beauty of bicycle designs. I’ve found a cool collection of home accessories including cushions, wall art, book ends, wall clocks and rugs featuring bikes.

Home Accessories Featuring Bicycles
Cushions bearing bike images are plentiful. I’ve picked out a few of my favourites to show you. I love this Bicycle Cushion which features a simple image printed onto 100% linen. The muted colour palette works well against neutral interior tones. It’s a nice oblong shape which measures 30cm high and 50cm wide – £55 from Graham & Green.

The bicycle is also being coveted for wall art prints. I published a trends piece recently about the popularity of anatomical illustrations. The bike is also being labelled with anatomy style drawings. Anthony Oram is a keen cyclist who has come up with a cool design called Anatomy of a Bicycle. This is a hand pulled screen print on heavy duty 270gsm stock which has been signed on the back. The measurements are 30cm x 40cm – £29 from Anthony Oram at notonthehighstreet.com.

I found a company called Wyatt9 who specialise in bicycle art featuring impressive illustrations. This classic men’s retro fixed gear bike is a good example of their work which can be personalised with the name of the recipient. It’s printed on antique style thick, matte paper. These come in A3 and A2 sizes – £19.95-24.95 from Wyatt9 at notonthehighstreet.com. They also have a quirky collection combining animal antlers with bicycle parts which you should check out.

Aside from the cushions and the wall art, there are plenty of other bicycle inspired products like the rug I featured at the beginning of this article with the traditional push bike graphic. The measurements are 120cm high and 180cm in width – £460 from Graham & Green.
Bicycle Book Ends from Lime Lace
These Bicycle Book Ends are very cute. They have been made from laser cut black metal and are strong enough to hold a number of books. Perfect for a child’s room or a cycling fanatic. The measurements are 6cm high and 12cm wide – £32 from Lime Lace at notonthehighstreet.com.
Home Accessories Made From Upcycled Bicycles
Disused bicycle parts are also being upcycled to produce quirky pieces for the home. I came across a company called Bicycle Taxidermy who makes trophy heads from antique bike handlebars. These are mounted onto oak plaques in burnt black or bleached white. They make great hooks for clothes and towels – £160 from Bicycle Taxidermy at notonthehighstreet.com.

A company I’ve featured before is Vyconic who make Upcycled Bicycle Wheel Clocks. They recondition and re-engineer bicycle wheels with a Karlsson quartz clock mechanism – £95 from Vyconic at notonthehighstreet.com.
