Restaurant Review: Iron Bloom Restaurant and Cocktail Bar. As it was part of my extended birthday weekend food fest celebrations, I was excited to check out the new brunch menu at this Shoreditch spot. The food features deconstructed classic British dishes served in new ways paired with cocktails. If you’re looking for weekend brunch in Shoreditch, restaurants on Great Eastern Street or cocktail bars near Shoreditch High Street pop into the Iron Bloom Restaurant and Cocktail Bar.

Iron Bloom Restaurant and Cocktail Bar Brunch Menu
The brunch menu has just been introduced so we were the first to try it out! I was drawn towards the Avocado and Spinach Benedict with two poached eggs on a bed of spinach inside a fluffy Yorkshire pudding with hollandaise sauce on top. What a lovely dish this was, it was perfect for Sunday because it combined breakfast with the best part of a roast dinner for a vegetarian – the Yorkshire pud! Alternatives were Eggs Benedict with honey roast ham or Eggs Royale with smoked salmon.

Homeboy selected the Lobster and Potato Hash which was very cute indeed. It came in a little bowl with diced potatoes mixed with grilled leeks and chorizo (optional). With a fried duck egg on top and a dollop of crème fraiche, you had a dream dish. Or you could try the Baked Egg White Omelette with chestnut mushrooms, spinach, goats cheese and spring onions.

Add a couple of small plates to satisfy your hunger. Homeboy loved the Poached Salmon with fennel, blood orange, kohlrabi, endive and vinaigrette. He kept talking about it on the walk home! Other options were Oxtail Croquette, grilled Bavette Steak, Wagyu Beef and Marrow Burger or Salt Baked Beetroot.
Make sure you try the Truffle and Parmesan Fries which were amazing. We really wanted to tuck into the Mac ‘n Cheese but had to turn it down to make way for a pudding. Braised Red Cabbage and Roquette with Parmesan are also available as sides.

The desserts all sounded totally delicious. After much deliberation we finally agreed to share the Dark Chocolate Delice. This was very rich with Baileys cream, milk crumble and hazelnuts. The other puddings were Pineapple Mousse and Mango Panna Cotta.

We finished the meal with the British Cheeses with sourdough crisps, walnuts and quince jelly. To give you an idea of price points, the egg dishes are £9-13, small plates £7.50-15, sides £4-6.50, puddings and cheese plate £6-8.
The Looking Glass Cocktail Club is behind this venture, so you can expect to be delighted with the drinks offering here. Brunch cocktails include their take on a Bloody Mary called the ‘Bloddy Bloomary’. They also provide a Hangover Cure which is a vodka-based cocktail shaken with green apple, ginger syrup and lemon topped with tonic water (it mentions that paracetamol is optional).
Iron Bloom Restaurant and Cocktail Bar Interiors
Set in a former iron factory, the interiors are industrial with bare brick walls, reclaimed wooden floor and iron pillars. There are a couple of seating booths upstairs along with high tables and stools. You’ll find the bar on this level which is towards the back of the space. Head downstairs where you will see the kitchen and a few more tables. With a DJ in the evening, this is a great place to hang out with your friends after work. If you want to go when it’s quieter try the weekend brunch as we did.
