While exploring the area, I popped into the Bluebird Cafe, Kings Road, London SW3, for lunch. I love the Grade II Listed Building, an Art Deco 1923 garage designed by Robert Sharp for the Bluebird Motor Company. In 1997 it was transformed into the Bluebird Gastrodome (Restaurant, Cafe, Bar and Shop) by Sir Terrance Conran. Today it’s a Cafe and Restaurant run by D&D London. If you’re looking for lunch along Kings Road, somewhere to dine with outside tables in SW3 or restaurants in Chelsea, you’ll appreciate the Bluebird Café.
“Relax in the idyllic Bluebird Cafe courtyard of this iconic Art Deco building as you enjoy a classic menu featuring Steak and Chips, the Bluebird Cheeseburger or Grilled Spatchcock Chicken,” Homegirl London.
Bluebird Cafe All Day Menu
I was there for lunch, but the same menu was also for Dinner. Start by sharing a few Small Plates of Hummous with Baby Veg, English Asparagus with Poached Egg and Hollandaise, Popcorn Shrimp with Fermented Chilli and Black Sesame or posh it up with Trout Roe Caviar.
I went straight for the Mains and selected the Mushroom Strozzapreti, a hand-rolled twisted pasta from Northern Italy. It was coated in Olive Oil, Parsley and Garlic and tasted amazing. It was a sizable helping, and I loved every mouthful.
Other Mains include Soft Shell Crab Burger, Loch Duart Salmon, Beer Battered Haddock, Grilled Spatchcock Chicken, Cheeseburger, Steak Tartare and Steak Frites. With a selection of healthy Salads like Salmon Poke Bowl, Yellowfin Tuna Niçoise and Caesar, there is enough variety to satisfy everyone.
I couldn’t resist ordering the Eton Mess, which turned out to be a gigantic Meringue with strawberries, Coulis and a large dollop of Chantilly Cream nestled in the middle. Wow, it was super sweet, but I did enjoy it. Other Desserts are Ice Cream, Sorbets, lemon Posset, Chocolate Tart and Macaroons.
To give you an idea of prices, Snacks (Foccacia and Olive Oil, Jamon Croquettas, etc.) cost £4-7.50. Small Plates are £8-36, Salads £10.50-16.50, and Mains are£15-22.50. Sides (Heritage Tomato Salad, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Jersey Royals, Fries, Sweet Potato Fries) are all £5.50. Desserts are £4-8; you can order Ice Cream or Sorbet for £1.50 per scoop. If you’re dining with friends, I recommend you get a Summer Jug of Aperol Spritzy for £35. I tried the Passion Good Mocktail with Passion Fruit, Apple and Ginger, which was delightful.
