Meet The LuxDeco Owner
Jonathan Holmes is the Founder and CEO of the business which he started in 2012. His mother is an interior designer (currently Interiors Director at the company) specialising in the high-end market so it’s no wonder Jonathan has a keen interest this field. Before launching his business, Jonathan created a successful start-up when he was twenty years old, which he sold in 2001. Since then he has spent over ten years as a digital consultant helping brands succeed in the digital space by honing their user experience and streamlining online design for some of the finest brands in the world. It is this combination of understanding the luxury interiors market and his knowledge of the digital space which makes LuxDeco the elegant force that it is today.
Jonathan explains how his ideas for the luxury décor business came about – “I was furnishing my new home and realised there was a gaping hole in the luxury furniture market. There was nowhere I could buy high-end furnishings online. When choosing my own furniture and fittings, I found myself repeatedly turning to my own interior designer for advice on style and where I could buy the items I wanted.”

Jonathan soon realised that he wasn’t the only person in need of a personal shopper. He explains – “My friends started asking my designer to source the products they couldn’t find in the shops. Like me, they found that glossy magazine editorials were inspiring to look at but finding these pieces was impossible to industry outsiders. Selecting high end furnishings without expert advice was an intimidating process. I thought that choosing furniture would be enjoyable, but it was actually a hugely stressful experience. That gave me the idea to offer expert insight, curated product selections and a high-end service – it’s an expert eye, online.”

The decision to launch this business online allows Jonathan to offer his clients the best possible service. He tells me – “In comparison to fashion, for example, higher end furniture and homeware was not well represented online. There was no dominant brand or ‘one stop shop’ where you could be inspired and discover new collections as well as being able to shop the latest trends. It was very fragmented so I wanted to create a single destination that put the whole Interior Designer showroom concept online.” It’s certainly paid off because this successful business now employs twenty people and Jonathan gets the reward of seeing his concept come to life.
