If you’re not familiar with Made.com, they bring you furniture straight from the manufacturers. Because they are an online retailer, you are not paying for the upkeep of physical stores. This allows them to keep the prices as low as possible. Over the years they have collaborated with many designers to bring their customers coveted pieces which have become classics. If you’re in the market for furniture, the website and showroom are well worth a visit. They have some fantastic pieces for your living room, bedroom, hallway, home office and garden and have recently introduced a range for children’s bedrooms. You’ll find a great mix of contemporary designs mingled with some mid-century modern hints. From colour pops to subtle hues and patterns to plains, there’s undoubtedly something for everyone.
My favourite Five Pieces From Made.com
While I was enjoying my browse around the Charing Cross showroom, I picked out five items to share with you. I’ll start with this Jonah Sofa which has been designed by James Harrison and is one of their classics. You can buy this design as a two-seater, three-seater, armchair or footstool. This Cobalt blue velvet is a limited edition and is very swanky. It also comes in leather and fabric with colour options including shades of red, yellow, blue, green, grey, black and more. It’s a beautiful clean retro-inspired shape with angular legs for interest. The three-seater sofa size in the Cobalt blue velvet is priced £699, the two-seater is £599, and the armchair is £499.
I just loved this Profile Armchair which has been upholstered in topaz linen. It’s an accent chair so you can select a more daring colour to liven up your living room. This is also available in vibrant coral and amber, but if you want to play it safe, there’s also a grey. The shape is uncomplicated with solid wood legs which are low to the ground for a more relaxed seat. The price is £399. You might also like the giant red floor standing lamp shown in the picture. This is called Brooklyn and is also available in black or silver. The price is £99.
The Hooper Storage Coffee Table has a sleek retro shape. It’s a practical piece which gives you somewhere to rest your mugs and store clutter underneath. Made from ash veneer plywood, it is durable and sturdy. The angular legs are contrasted in chrome. You can also buy this in white, walnut or black colours. It’s a reasonable price at £149. There is also a bedside cabinet in a similar style and shape.

Fans of industrial design will love the Starkey Table Lamp. With its bare bulb hanging from the weathered brass drop cap, it’s exposed and raw. It has a slender arm and rests upon a rectangle base. This is perfect for shedding light in your home office or for reading a book in bed. The price is excellent at £45. If you like this design, you can match with a cluster pendant light or chandelier style.

The cushion selection is excellent. They have a great mix of styles ranging from plain to check, abstract, photographic and illustrations like this Port Hole Cushion. This is a fun take on a nautical theme with a bright shot of yellow. Ideal for a kid’s bedroom and a home which doesn’t take itself too seriously! Philip Colbert’s Rodnik Band makes it; a fashion label creating pop art-inspired pieces by fusing fashion with humour and art. You can pick this up for £35. Other collaborations with the Rodnik Bank include more cushions, and a shark fin inspired armchair, pop art style posters and a rug.

Made.com Showroom and Stock
This showroom is an excellent and spacious place to browse. The offices are also located here so you can see the team working away behind a glass partition. They don’t display all the pieces so if you have a particular item in mind do check on the website which gives a list of what is on show. If you want to find out more about an item you can scan the attached ticket with one of the iPads. If you put in your email details, it will whizz the information straight to your inbox. There is also a wall of postcards which gives the vital statistics of each product. One thing to point out is that this is not a shop in the usual sense, so there is no cash desk. Instead, there are computers where you can order your items from the website. If you think about it, this is an excellent idea because you don’t have to worry about taking your cushions or lamps home on the bus or tube!
