Shop snoop around the new Moooi London Showroom, Great Titchfield Street in W1. I’d just been to the dentist for a checkup and decided to have a saunter around Fitzrovia afterwards. It made my day when I spotted the brand new gleaming Moooi London showroom right before my very eyes. After squealing with delight, I quickly pulled out my camera and started to snap away. If you’re not familiar with Moooi, you’ll enjoy their creative take on interiors which combines luxury with eccentricity and inventiveness. They have a sense of humour, and their work often pushes the boundaries of conventional design. Founded in 2001 by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers, the name Moooi means beautiful in Dutch, with an extra ‘O’ to represent even more beauty! These days the art direction is down to Wanders and Desirée de Jong, and a raft of designers who contribute to the product designs.
You’ll find plenty of sofa options including the rounded cosy Bart Sofa with quilt-like stitched upholstery. Or you might be tempted by a lounge chair so you can kick back and relax. With buffet-style wooden sideboards or the Tudor collection, there are plenty of storage options to keep your clutter at bay. The dining tables and chairs range from stylish and timeless creations to deliciously decadent designs.
Lighting wise, you have dramatic Raimond Tensegrity LED sphere lamps which are quite something. More loft living style is the Construction lamps and the Brave New World oak mechanic standing lamps. Elsewhere you have colourful carpets bursting with rose gardens and frozen crystals. Check out the decorative objects which are always exciting, from the Killing Pig Money Bank to the delft blue vase which looks like it is blowing away.
Moooi London Showroom Space
The showroom is located on the ground floor of the Moray House building which is situated on a corner, so it benefits from expansive windows on two sides. Through the door and you will enjoy the styling which is inviting yet uber-glam at the same time. It feels like you’ve got a lovely wealthy friend who has invited you round to their beautiful designer apartment for a gossip over a glass of expensive champagne.
The furniture is displayed in luxe living room, and mouthwatering dining room sets. You have enough room to manoeuvre in-between the room sets without worrying that you’ll knock something over. I’m always grateful for that because I often feel clumsy when expensive objects are close by. The staff were super friendly and accommodating which makes the experience even better.
