Orford Saloon Tapas Restaurant Menu
The menu features all your favourite tapas dishes. You could start with a plate of cold meats; Ibérico bellota, Ibérico recebo, Serrano ham, Salchichon (summer Spanish sausage) and Chorizo. Or you can opt for a selection of Spanish cheeses or the Manchego with quince paste. I love the sautéed Padron peppers with a sprinkling of salt as a starter, lovely!

Chicken choices include croquettes, chicken cooked with white wine and garlic or skewered chicken breast which has been marinated in a spicy Canarian sauce. Lamb lovers will adore the cumin, garlic and paprika seasoned lamb on skewers or flame-grilled cutlets. Chorizo comes cooked in wine, or you can have it with a lentil stew or sauté style with mushrooms. The Serrano ham is paired with white beans, green beans or artichokes. Or perhaps you might fancy a fillet steak or the pork and beef meatballs in a rich tomato sauce.

The seafood selection included steamed mussels with lemon or cooked in white wine. King prawns are also prepared with white wine with chilli and garlic, or you can have those grilled instead with butter and a dash of garlic. Paprika octopus is served on a bed of potato and onion. The calamari was also featured, Homeboy tried the calamari which he thoroughly enjoyed.
I was happy with the veggie selection, which included my favourite patatas bravas and the Spanish omelette. I particularly liked the aubergine batons which had a light batter and were drizzled with honey, yummy! The white beans cooked in garlic and olive oil plus the sautéed green beans with garlic and sea salt were perfectly cooked. The lentils with tomato, onions and red peppers were delicious.
Lentils with Tomato, Onions and Red Peppers
I also noticed they had a couple of paella dishes which you need to order for two people. One featured fish with seafood, another mixed seafood with chicken and the third was beef, chicken and chorizo. Desserts wise they offer baked custards, crème caramel flan, rice pudding, chocolate mousse, almond tart and ice cream. Or you can go for the Spanish cheese boards instead. Finish with a brandy, a digestif or liqueur, and you’ll be extremely content. They have a great wine list, and the coffee is also good.
Orford Saloon Tapas Restaurant Interiors
In the summer you’ll see a row of tables and chairs out in front lining the pavement on Orford Street. The exterior of the restaurant building is painted dark blue. This place occupies two shops, so you’ll be surprised how large it is inside. The first portion is the café and deli where you will see a display of Serrano ham waiting to be cut to order, hanging strings of dried peppers, freshly prepared artisan sandwiches, delicious cakes and bottles of Spanish wines. Towards the back, this room opens up onto a courtyard. The décor in this part of the building is clean, contemporary and minimal.
Cafe Interiors
Continue through to the second part where you will find a more traditional feel. Terracotta tiles underfoot, partly plastered and part brick walls and wrought iron dining chairs paired with tiled topped tables. There is also a bar serving a selection of wines and spirits. Out the back, there is yet another room which features a glass roof which does have that holiday restaurant feel.
