Shop Snoop: Pictures and Light Shop (Pictures & Light). I was in the neighbourhood so I decided to pop in and have a snoop around the adorable Pictures and Light Shop. Check it out for yourself if you’re looking for a gift store in Stoke Newington, places to buy retro furniture in N16 or vintage shops in North London.
Vintage Furniture and More at the Pictures and Light Shop
This shop has the perfect balance of old and new items which includes furniture, objects of interest, gifts and more. I’ll start with vintage furniture. Expect to find a selection of fine vintage Danish furniture from 1920-1970, covering the periods of Modernism, Mid-century and Post War design. The teak wood furniture is likely to include circular drop leaf dining tables, chests of drawers, sideboards, display cabinets and bookcases.
Teak Chest of Drawers
Interesting objects will be dotted around, so make sure you explore all the shelves and displays resting on the dining tabletops. Vintage tea sets, bar glassware, colourful glass vases and ceramic vases were available when I visited.

Other items I spotted included decorative animal objects, religious figures, retro table lamps, trinket boxes, glass pendant lights and old wall hanging mirrors.
Vintage Style Milk Bottles
For vintage style decorative accessories, you’ll love the old fashion school half pink milk bottles and sweet jars.
Gift Ideas at the Pictures and Light Shop
New items include a selection of products made by local designer-makers, like Stokey Textiles tea towels. The shop owner told me that their product offering is going to include more ethically created items in the future.

Art prints feature local Stoke Newington and Hackney content, Stewy squirrel and duck stencils, geometric patterns alongside botanical and animal orientated imagery.

Frida Kahlo cushions and prints were on display which is perfect for anyone who adores this iconic Mexican artist.

The colourful alpaca scarves have been doing a roaring trade so I was informed, and I can see why because they were gorgeous.
If you’re looking for gift ideas, they sell scented candles and diffusers, leather key rings, handy purses, painted mugs and more.
Browse the display cabinets for vintage and costume designer jewellery. This includes necklaces, earrings, bracelets, bangles and brooches.
You can also buy a great selection of greeting cards to accompany the lovely gift you’ve bought!
