Republic of Fritz Hansen Showroom Stock
In 1872 Fritz Hansen opened up a small shop in Copenhagen selling his hand crafted cabinets. It is a family business for 107 years until acquired in 1979 by Skandinavisk Holding. Their work starts to become recognized after being influenced by the German Bauhaus School and a move towards industrialised furniture. This combined with a string of clever product collaborations gives them an edge. The Fritz Hansen brand worked with impressive talent including architects and designers to create some of the most highly acclaimed and recognized furniture in the world. These included Arne Jacobsen, Hans J Wegner, Verner Panton, Poul Kjaerholm and Piet Hein. You can view these important furniture pieces at the London showroom. It’s a bit like being in a design museum but you are allowed to touch the exhibits and buy them!
