We often head to Covent Garden for the best sweet treats in London WC2. You can fill up on adorable Japanese cakes, Nordic pastries, Portuguese custard tarts, and Italian gelato there. Here’s a list of my favourite places in Covent Garden for sweet treats, you can thank me later! My list isn’t in any particular order; these desserts are all amazing.
My Favourite Sweet Treats In Covent Garden
Pistachio chocolate escargot at Arôme. This Bakery blends French baking traditions with Asian flavours, creating unique creations like the pistachio chocolate escargot, a flaky, rich, nutty pastry. This cosy spot is located at 9 Mercer Street.
Kanelbullar at Bageriet. A charming Swedish bakery with the best kanelbullar (cinnamon buns) thanks to the yeasted cardamom dough and fragrant cinnamon mixture. Discover this hidden gem at 24 Rose Street.
Pastéis de nata at Santa Nata. There’s nothing like a warm, freshly baked pastel de nata from Santa Nata. These Portuguese custard tarts are an absolute must-try. You’ll find two branches in Covent Garden, one at 7 New Row and the other at 7 Russell Street.
Matcha croissants and Japanese cakes at Wa Patisserie. Start your day with a matcha croissant or drop by at midday for one of Wa’s stunning cakes, such as the sunny mango or yuzu creations. Wa Japanese Patisserie offers a delightful fusion of Japanese flavours and French techniques. It is located at 5 New Row.
Cheesecakes at Whipped. The best place to savour baked cheesecakes is Whipped. Choose from lotus cookie dough, banoffee, or nutella, and you’ll be in dessert heaven. They are located at 29 Bedfordbury, near New Row.
Macarons at Ladurée. These iconic pastel-coloured macarons make a perfect treat or gift. Grab a mixed box and enjoy these elegant bites nearby. You can find them at 1 The Market.
Chantilly cream brioche at Dolce VyTA. This quaint spot by Matteo Manzotti serves indulgent brioche buns filled with chantilly cream and topped with your choice of coatings and sprinkles. Pop along to 21 The Market.
Decadent cakes at EL&N. An Instagram-worthy bakery is renowned for its desserts. During my last visit, I sampled their bogtrotter’s chocolate cake, a divine creation featuring a moist sponge and indulgent ganache. EL&N is situated at 22 The Market.
Italian gelato at Venchi. On a sunny day, Venchi’s creamy Italian gelato is unbeatable. Choose your favourite flavours, choose a cone or cup, and add decadent extras. Visit them at 8 The Market.
